I thought I'd try something a bit different for these cold winter days.
This is a very detailed build and it has LED lights in some of the bricks!
It should be interesting as things go on!
I've been a fan of the Daft Punk since the Da Funk hit the MTV. There's been a vision in my head about photographing them someday in my studio. In recent years I've been thinking about it more and more. A few days ago, I finally heard the doorbell ringing and Thomas Bangalter entered in to my home, in a small collectors box with extra hands as a bonus! :D

So, as I attended Summer School for my district to get the completely useless "required classes" out of the way, I brought along my new sketchbook.
And boy howdy, am I glad I did.
These doodles are not arranged an a page like this; I dragged and dropped them and rearranged them using Photoshop. The doodles pictured actually span seven one-sided pages (four and a half front-and-back).
These are Things with Faces and People Without. The People Without are my response to my inner stick-figurer-er, and I just like giving weird things silly faces.

The Pen F and Zuiko 12mm f2...taken at motorcycle heaven (or hell if you can no longer partake) CMC Clay Cross, Derbyshire.
I could be tempted back in the saddle by one of these. As long as I migrate to sunnier climes...and have an underling to polish all the shiny bits.
I've bought this set for 75€. With an L-Motor, Battery/Receiver Box and Remote Control this seemed good value for money. Seemed.
This is a chinese as you can get, when you order a pint of lager and get a glass of horsepiss. Yes, it's yellow and has foam on top, but you'd be a wee bit disappointed - as I am.
1st they did not understand the special properties of a shay, which runs on two bogies to tackle tight radii. This has no bogies, it's a rigid rame loco. The front and back wheelsets don't even touch the rails when you put it on the R40 circle that comes with the kit.
2nd the electric part. It's on or off, like in the good old days with my 4,5V Lego trains, but at double speed. If you want to watch the peculiar power train with moving pistons and turning cogwheels - you can't. The loco is too fast, and the pistons are just a blur.
Without friction tyres it takes a few seconds of spinning wheels until the machine gets into motion.
3rd cable management.
This thingy comes with about 20-25cm (10") of four core cable, but it doesn't exist in the instruction booklet. You have to guess where it should go, and at the end you're left with one big loop. Yes, there's room in the driver's cab, but where do the fireman and the driver go? And they don't even make any arrempt to hide the plugs. Only one in my pictures because I didn't bother with the light, but there are two 4-core cables.
Recommendation? Definitely not. 2 of 5 stars.
Toy Project Day 3916
My first attempt at doing inverted art. I wanted the inverted picture to look like a cartoony comic-book illustration, so leaving those thin white outlines was pretty tricky. Much trickier than just drawing with a black pen.
Inspired by Siercon & Coral's Invert island.
Finally got around to digitizing my drawing of the spliff tokin 60 tooth pushin hipster from a couple weeks ago. Inspired by some of Keith Weesner's hot rod art.
I don't really know but this might be the first "full" picture of my face I've ever posted to this community.
Anyways I haven't built anything in a long time mostly because I haven't any ideas or motivation, and I'm also really busy. All the time.

Friend loaned me his drone/quad-copter deal so I could get the feel of flying one.
Next pic'll be Lego, I promise. :P
I've never seen a Sherman before so on a trip to Vancouver Island I got the chance to get a photo with one.
Not-Lego found on Ali, for 2020. Some are rare/expensive but exist (thus are fine to use in MOCs), others haven't been produced in those colors.
Of course it's AliExpress, listings are crap, you don't know what you really buy, you won't get exactly what you ordered, lots will be missing. And it's fake Lego, overall it's good but there are differences in plastic or color inconsistencies (but the same can be said about genuine Lego).
For the parts that exist as genuine Lego but cost like 50 bucks a pop, it's definitely worth it. Leave the original ones to collectors, use copies in MOCs. That is, until Lego produces them again, but for some of these there is zero chance.
(oh, and on the other hand, not-Lego sellers steal MOCs, [including mine]).

I made these little fellas over two years ago. In fact, my War Machine figure is their direct descendant. At the time I wanted to make a dioram including a dewback, which unfortunately I couldn't build - I don't have enough green parts. Since their publication was long overdue and today is Star Wars' 35th anniversary, I took them outside and made a few pictures. I'll have to take a few extra shots to show the backpacks.
I recently got a large haul of Lego at a garage sale. Along with the large bin of unsorted parts were several Lego boxes. While most had Lego in them, one had a snap-together gundam model without instructions. I decided to use the parts from the gundam to make my own custom model.
It is 2.5 inches long and took hours of piece cutting and painting with a toothpick. Its loosely based on the Halo Pelican. I plan on making a Lego version soon.
Pretty sure I've seen both of these builds in genuine LEGO built by another AFOL - I don't know whether they ripped him off or it was commissioned (doubt it) but both are pretty cool models. Instructions are very good; I'll get some more photos of everything once I've finished the build.
Spring breakkkkk
was last week. I went to Vegas, and stopped by the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Got this awesome shot while at the dam.
The blue soldier is supposed to be an hologram. Unfortunately there are no trans-blue minifigs in Tente (actually there are just two pieces in that colour) but I think you can get the idea if you are familiar with the Star Wars universe.
This was a last-moment idea. I wanted each hand to be doing something different. I tried to make a blaster, but the one used by scout troopers is rather small and quite difficult to build at this size, so I added it directly to the holster in the boot. I thought of building a second scout trooper but I couldn't find all the pieces required and it would have taken too long. Then the idea of the hologram came in. I liked it because, well, it was easy to build, and would explain why the scout trooper didn't see the ewok.
Well unfortunately for you guys I won't be bringing you any LEGO pics anytime soon because I'm in New Zealand for the next month or so! Here's a picture of a mountain to tide you over.

This photograph was the most difficult to shoot. There are four light sources, and not all equally bright. There are LEDs for the headlights and the interior; the brightest of them all, I had to turn them off before the picture was taken. Unfortunately the light underneath the car, used to light up the flames, was connected to the same switch, and not being as bright as the LEDs, it caused those to appear a bit overexposed, and the flames a bit underexposed.
Another light is on the side of the car, barely giving any light at all. The exposure was very long and it had to look dark, after all.
The flux bands were made white for a reason. In fact, I used a special kind of white parts that reflect black light very well. This is how they were lit. It took a few shots to get them bright enough.

Esta fotografía tuve que repetirla en numerosas ocasiones debido a la complejidad de la iluminación. Hay cuatro fuentes de luz, una general, muy débil, para iluminar el coche; LEDs para las luces y el interior; un foco iluminando las llamas por debajo, y por último, luz ultravioleta para las bandas temporales.
Los LEDs son los más brillantes, por lo que no estaban encendidos durante toda la exposición. El foco de las llamas, desafortunadamente, tuve que conectarlo a la misma base que los LEDs, por lo que se apagaban simultáneamente, dejando a los primeros un tanto sobreexpuestos y a las llamas un tanto subexpuestas.
La luz ultravioleta necesita una larga exposición para poder destacar entre luces reales.
