Mapusa Friday market pic 10 of 27: More clothing on sale in the Mapusa Friday market in Mapusa, Goa. The stall we saw earlier had garments. This series of stalls here seem to stock t-shirts, hosiery, undergarments and jeans. Although the Mapusa wet market operates every day, it takes on a totally different vibe with plenty of additional stalls, more varieties of merchandise and a much more brilliant vibrancy and crowd on Fridays, when it operates as the Mapusa Friday market. hustle. The Mapusa Friday Market is a significant attraction for both locals and tourists, the additional advantage being that the traders ply their trade here directly, without a bloodsucking middleman eating into their day's earnings. Prices on Fridays are hence a lot more reasonable as there is no middleman. Almost taking on the shape of a flea market, the Mapusa Friday market sees a lot of foreign tourists looking for spices, garments or general merchandise. Mapusa Friday market pic 20 of 27: A selfie in the fresh vegetables section of the Mapusa Friday market. I love to cook and am a kid in a candy store in a fresh produce market, especially the vegetable section. The quality and quantity of the local produce was beyond exceptional. I was given to understand that some of the vegetables here come from far away places in Goa and some even from the neighbouring state of Karnataka. I shall save you any more commentary as I have already spoken at length about the Mapusa Friday market and the kind of goods you get here earlier in this album. Rich diamond merchant's house seen from the dolphin watching boat. I am on a boat out of Candolim beach in north Goa, headed for a spot of dolphin watching with an incredibly high claimed success rate- I was all the more skeptical as I'd had zero luck with such spotting tours elsewhere in the world. The boatman points out important landmarks we are passing by on our way to the dolphin spotting point. This is the palace of a rich merchant- later mentioned to us as a diamond merchant. This is actually Jimmy's Palace, or mansion of business tycoon Jimmy/ Jamshed Gazdar. Limited notes about the mansion (it's private property after all!) appear immediately after this.
