Aurizon's Alco-powered loco 907 was recently overhauled at Port Augusta. On Sunday 3 September 2023 it was at Spencer Jct awaiting transfer to Whyalla for internal standard gauge duties within the steelworks.

Built under licence by A E Goodwin of Sydney, 907 originally entered service on narrow gauge as loco 27 of the Silverton Tramway in 1960, later to be sold to the South Australian Railways in 1970, becoming their 874.

Ownership has changed several times since then. It received its chopped down nose for one man operations c2001, and more recently saw service working narrow gauge ore trains at Whyalla.

A beautiful angle inside Ginza station in Tokyo with these pillars all numbered. Tripod was used for this picture and I was so happy that none of the staff ran to me to kick me out as it would have been the case in Singapore for instance. I made sure to go there outside of peak hours so as to not disturb too many people walking that way.

Had the pleasure of going to the Lantern Festival at the Pittsburgh Zoo.

I think this is the great hunt panel?

The last of our Amaryllis to bloom. Nine blossoms on the two stalks. We didn't hold out a lot of hope for the bulb, it was slightly damaged and the roots were dried out. Never say never, lol!!

NJ is a super friendly and energetic guy, so when you're wandering with him, he's always opening doors for photographic opportunities. Photographed on a Vancouver-area Four Thirds Photographers photowalk with Daniel, Don, Jonathan, and NJ (of course). Front Street, New Westminster, BC. May 25, 2014.

"Nine"

I recall once on the church steps,

When I moved to kiss your chest,

How we paid such close attention

To each sweet and stuttered breath,

I should’ve stopped to paint our picture,

Captured honest pure affection,

Just to document the difference

between attraction and connection.

I can see all of my friends and

I break into empty buildings,

When the coast was clear,

With backpacks full of beer,

We’d throw our bottles from the rooftops

At this city-it looked endless.

Guess I still don’t see the difference

between real purpose and that urgent adolescence.

And I remember in a basement sharing sweat

With all these stranger boys and girls,

“We’ll change the world!” We sang,

“We’ll change the world!” But,

Nothing seems to change and

They say none of them will listen,

But I still see much more power in that basement

than in heartless politicians.

And if we get beaten by this winter,

If we get strangled by regret, just

Let our love of life and tension

Gasp in sweet and stuttered breaths, and

Have them lay us in a basement,

Smash some bottles on the ground, and

Say we couldn't tell the difference

between the feeling and the sound.

Remember not our faulty pieces,

Remember not our rusted parts,

It’s not the petty imperfections that define us but

The way we hold our hearts,

And the way we hold our heads,

I hope they write your names beside mine

on my gravestone when I’m dead.

And when we’re dead let our voices carry on

To find a better song.

To find a better song and sing along

Ricardo Brey (born 1955) is a child of the Cuban Revolution. He is one of the pioneer artists of Cuban New Art which began in 1891. Disillusioned by the ideals of the Cuban Revolution as corrupted by the regime of Fidel Castro, Brey participated in this key event along with many notable Cuban artists, writers and art critics.

More than twenty years after leaving Cuba, Brey was given the first retrospective of his work at the Museo Nacional Bellas Artes in Havana (2014). Belgium, Brey’s adopted country, presented the first European retrospective of his work the Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp.

Finally finished this guy up. Some minor tweaks here and there from previous version but everything's all finalized now.
