Sparrenheuvel was built around 1824. In 1818, a parcel comes in sale, which initially to the property of Johannes Renatus van Laer, owner of Castle Zeist belonged. It is bought by still youthful - twenty-nine year old - lives off one's investments, the Amsterdammer Everard Cornelis Schroder, who commissions on the domain an outside house to build.
Please see here more photos from Zeist, The Netherlands.

On the Ninth day of the Ninth month the theme this week is the number NINE.
This number is on a tombstone of one of the early settlers in our area which is in a small park on the top of a hill with a lovely view.
Steam from the Nine Dragons paper mill rises in the distance on a -9 degree morning in Rumford, Maine. Maine Switching Services, with GP39-2 #3902, selects a cut of cars to bring to the mill. Meanwhile, a Pan Am Railways RUPO, led by GP40 MEC 306 (long hood forward) awaits the next crew to leave Rumford for Riley Yard in Jay and then eventually Rigby Yard in Portland.
I was challenged to do 10 days with 10 photos of my daily life, in black and white, without explanation, without anyone in the photo.
I was challenged by my sister KJZly.
Today is Day Nine.
The Hall of Supreme Harmony rises some 30 meters above the level of the surrounding square. It is the ceremonial center of imperial power, and the largest surviving wooden structure in China.
It is nine bays wide and five bays deep, the numbers nine and five being symbolically connected to the majesty of the Emperor. The six pillars nearest the imperial throne are covered with gold, and the entire area is decorated with a dragon motif. The imperial Dragon Throne, in particular, has five dragons coiled around the back and handrests. The screen behind it features sets of nine dragons, again reflecting the "nine-five" symbolism.
Sadly I haven't had the opportunity to get out into the recent snow as I normally would, but I couldn't resist a sunrise shoot of the Grey Ladies. Id shot them the week prior (not shared yet) and decided to go back as I loved the rocks silhouetting on the skyline.

We came across a large pride of lions that was just finished eating the nights kill of a large Kudu. After the meal members of the pride made their way to a watering hole just over the hill. This shot is of nine siblings taking their turn drinking- there are only eight heads, but the ninth is hidden behind the last one on the far right.

Continuing the series, here's a front view of the Riddles 2-6-4T, minus it smokebox door number and no shed plate either. It's evident from this view that this was probably the shed pilot handling coal wagons at the coaling tower. Pilot lights are being carried, one over each buffer, fore and aft (one of each pair was white, the other, red).

Nine little cookies. She wanted to take them but she just looked away, out of sight out of mind perhaps!
After a walk in central London [21st Sept], I hopped on the underground at Charing Cross Station and headed to the new Northern Line extension, I only stopped at Nine Elms [Battersea Power Station 'Station' enough day] but had a lot of fun on the platform with these long exposure shots....I need to do more of these.

"Nine Standards Rigg takes its name from the line of cairns which stand on the edge of the escarpment just north of the summit. The origin of the nine “stone men” or columnar cairns on the summit, is a mystery, and some of the cairns, which are about 10 feet tall, are now in a perilous state. According to Wainwright, whose Coast to Coast route crosses the fell, they are very ancient and are marked on 18th century maps. One theory is that they were constructed by the Roman army to look like troops from a distance."
Nine Dragons and Five Tigers or just Nine Dragons refers to nine ridges which have branched off from the main vein. Along the terraces, you can see that the ridges look like nine dragons bending over to drink the water in the Jinsha River

Icebergs, red sails, whale sightings, quintessential villages...and some spectacular light! Greenland has been good to us! On our last day, Evelyn and I scrambled up a nearby peak and found ourselves in between the cloud layers. The sunset was the best send-off anyone can ask for. Until next time, Greenland!

For Our Daily Challenge topic - 'Nine.' I gave away or sold several hundred good books when I moved. Now (among about one hundred books) I have these red books that I will never part with.
Listed below.
Newly 9 years old. It's scary how big he's getting. Isaac means laughing one and he certainly is, and does.
Visited a local classic car meet last night. A lot of open topped British cars and an interesting Ford Pop dragster. Made a couple of quick sketches of the two cars I'd most like to have driven home in. First a lovely oily rag condition Singer Nine...
Canadian National C44-9WL 2516 was rounding the curve in Valpo with a westbound auto rack train. Built by GE in 1994, the unique 4-piece windshield Dash 9 was looking every one of its 24 years at this point.
It's doubtful the 2516 will see another paint booth for CN, but you never know.
Sadly, Nine-O-Nine was lost in a crash and seven people killed in Connecticut on October 2, 2019, six weeks after these photo's were taken.
Copied from Wikipedia: The original aircraft, manufactured by Boeing, was nicknamed after the last three digits of her serial number: 42-31909. Nine-0-Nine was added to the USAAF inventory on December 15, 1943. B-17G-85-DL, 44-83575, civil registration N93012, owned and flown by The Collings Foundation, Stow, Massachusetts, currently appears at airshows marked as the historic Nine-O-Nine.
The Collings Flying Fortress was built at Long Beach, CA by the Douglas Aircraft Company and accepted on April 7, 1945. Although she was too late for combat, #44-83575 did serve air-sea rescue duties as part of the Air/Sea 1st Rescue Squadron and later in the Military Air Transport Service.
In April 1952, #44-83575 was instrumented and subjected to the effects of three different nuclear explosions. After a thirteen-year "cool down" period, #44-83575 was sold as part of an 800-ton scrap pile and Aircraft Specialties Company began the restoration of the aircraft.
For twenty years, without a major problem or incident, #44-83575 served as a fire bomber dropping water and borate on forest fires. She was sold in January 1986 to the Collings Foundation.
