A long quote today, but he says it SO well... HFF!

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)

When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself.

He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.

His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever — in case I need him. And I expect I will — as I always have. He is just my dog."

"Nine Standards Rigg takes its name from the line of cairns which stand on the edge of the escarpment just north of the summit. The origin of the nine “stone men” or columnar cairns on the summit, is a mystery, and some of the cairns, which are about 10 feet tall, are now in a perilous state. According to Wainwright, whose Coast to Coast route crosses the fell, they are very ancient and are marked on 18th century maps. One theory is that they were constructed by the Roman army to look like troops from a distance."

Sadly, Nine-O-Nine was lost in a crash and seven people killed in Connecticut on October 2, 2019, six weeks after these photo's were taken.

Copied from Wikipedia: The original aircraft, manufactured by Boeing, was nicknamed after the last three digits of her serial number: 42-31909. Nine-0-Nine was added to the USAAF inventory on December 15, 1943. B-17G-85-DL, 44-83575, civil registration N93012, owned and flown by The Collings Foundation, Stow, Massachusetts, currently appears at airshows marked as the historic Nine-O-Nine.

The Collings Flying Fortress was built at Long Beach, CA by the Douglas Aircraft Company and accepted on April 7, 1945. Although she was too late for combat, #44-83575 did serve air-sea rescue duties as part of the Air/Sea 1st Rescue Squadron and later in the Military Air Transport Service.

In April 1952, #44-83575 was instrumented and subjected to the effects of three different nuclear explosions. After a thirteen-year "cool down" period, #44-83575 was sold as part of an 800-ton scrap pile and Aircraft Specialties Company began the restoration of the aircraft.

For twenty years, without a major problem or incident, #44-83575 served as a fire bomber dropping water and borate on forest fires. She was sold in January 1986 to the Collings Foundation.

No.73156 was one of 172 Standard Class 5 locomotives built by British Railways Workshops between 1951 and 1956. The Class was designed for mixed traffic duties throughout the Regions of British Railways.

The locomotive was one of nine examples built at Doncaster, emerging from the Plant in December, 1956 and, together with four others (Nos.73155-159), was allocated to Neasden depot (34E) at the London end of the Great Central main line. The Class 5s were not the first BR Standard type to arrive; having been preceded in 1956 by a batch of Class 4 76XXX series tender engines and Class 4 tank engines 80XXX series.

No.73156 arrived at Neasden on 6th January, 1957, one day after No.73155 and the two supplemented some seventy other steam locomotives from nine different classes. The depot also serviced locomotives arriving from the North, particularly from Leicester Central.

A beautiful angle inside Ginza station in Tokyo with these pillars all numbered. Tripod was used for this picture and I was so happy that none of the staff ran to me to kick me out as it would have been the case in Singapore for instance. I made sure to go there outside of peak hours so as to not disturb too many people walking that way.

I was challenged to do 10 days with 10 photos of my daily life, in black and white, without explanation, without anyone in the photo.

I was challenged by my sister KJZly.

Today is Day Nine.

I'll will post in landscape somewhen.

Today is the 9th birthday of our crazy and beloved Shanny.

At first I didn't want to post this picture because of the sudden death of our friends dog Talithah but still I had to share this with you.

Shanny is a special dog and I am so happy she still is with us because that's a real miracle! Three times we were at the point of letting her go because of a brain disease! Now she is nine years old wich we never thought she would make.

Shanny is stable for four years now and we are so happy about that. She is so precious and we hope she will be with us for a few years more:)
