From www.visitcumbria.com/evnp/nine-standards

"Nine Standards Rigg takes its name from the line of cairns which stand on the edge of the escarpment just north of the summit. The origin of the nine “stone men” or columnar cairns on the summit, is a mystery, and some of the cairns, which are about 10 feet tall, are now in a perilous state. According to Wainwright, whose Coast to Coast route crosses the fell, they are very ancient and are marked on 18th century maps. One theory is that they were constructed by the Roman army to look like troops from a distance."

Nine Dragons and Five Tigers or just Nine Dragons refers to nine ridges which have branched off from the main vein. Along the terraces, you can see that the ridges look like nine dragons bending over to drink the water in the Jinsha River

Canadian National C44-9WL 2516 was rounding the curve in Valpo with a westbound auto rack train. Built by GE in 1994, the unique 4-piece windshield Dash 9 was looking every one of its 24 years at this point.

It's doubtful the 2516 will see another paint booth for CN, but you never know.

Sadly, Nine-O-Nine was lost in a crash and seven people killed in Connecticut on October 2, 2019, six weeks after these photo's were taken.

Copied from Wikipedia: The original aircraft, manufactured by Boeing, was nicknamed after the last three digits of her serial number: 42-31909. Nine-0-Nine was added to the USAAF inventory on December 15, 1943. B-17G-85-DL, 44-83575, civil registration N93012, owned and flown by The Collings Foundation, Stow, Massachusetts, currently appears at airshows marked as the historic Nine-O-Nine.

The Collings Flying Fortress was built at Long Beach, CA by the Douglas Aircraft Company and accepted on April 7, 1945. Although she was too late for combat, #44-83575 did serve air-sea rescue duties as part of the Air/Sea 1st Rescue Squadron and later in the Military Air Transport Service.

In April 1952, #44-83575 was instrumented and subjected to the effects of three different nuclear explosions. After a thirteen-year "cool down" period, #44-83575 was sold as part of an 800-ton scrap pile and Aircraft Specialties Company began the restoration of the aircraft.

For twenty years, without a major problem or incident, #44-83575 served as a fire bomber dropping water and borate on forest fires. She was sold in January 1986 to the Collings Foundation.

My travelling in Sri Lanka brought me to this magnificent example of engineering and architecture. Nine Arches give this Train Bridge a superb view. I asked my muse to sit there carefully, for a minimalist portrait. Ella, Sri Lanka.

The Sankey Viaduct not the local Wetherspoons! It was completed in the 1830s on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway - the first major railway viaduct on the first inter-city railway anywhere in the world. One of the hourly Manchester Airport to Liverpool Lime Street stoppers is seen crossing the viaduct having just departed from Earlestown Station.

When I toured China last year my driver invited me to meet his family and see what a typical rural Chinese home looked like. To supplement their income, his wife raises pigs, including these 9 rather cute little piglets. Their home is located close to the town of Yangshou in Guanxi Province in China, near the City of Guilin.

A beautiful angle inside Ginza station in Tokyo with these pillars all numbered. Tripod was used for this picture and I was so happy that none of the staff ran to me to kick me out as it would have been the case in Singapore for instance. I made sure to go there outside of peak hours so as to not disturb too many people walking that way.

Been extremely busy these last few weeks and havnt been able to paint much. Kindof sucks as everyone is out and about on vacation or off to thailand somewhere ... anyways takin the time to post some older stuff that i never posted.

This little peice done with a couple people, guests visiting, a little while back. Will try and put the joiner up one day with everyone on it.

That night we decided to go paint but as we had very little paint we needed a bucket and some rollers. I quickly managed to grab those on the way home from work from a small shop open late right before it closes. Withought wanting to be overdramatic it was a last minute luck ... unfortunently when we arrived at this wall I had scoped earlier on it turned out that the bucket I got was so old that most of the paint had formed into this crasy cheese substance almost impossible to mix. We took turns fichting with the bucket, mixing in the bleu to get a nice color and started applying it onto the wall. Funny how it was either way too watery or way to thick at times as it wouldn't mix correctly.

While we where first going to play with the drips we ended up forgeting about them, at least I did, and just painted over em ...We still managed to pull out 4 peices with it so that was nice. Outlined and we where done. Pretty happy with the outcome ... a good way of welcoming our beloved guests.
