This week I am going to try to shoot only with my 50mm 1.8 II lens. We are not friends yet, the lens and I, It seems the focal points I use to take the shot are not in line with image that is recorded. I'm not sure if it is just because it is an inexpensive lens (around $100) or because there is something not quite right with it. Anybody else have this kind of trouble with the nifty fifty?
Thanks to the pioneer woman for the edge burn action.
I used to own a fabulous nifty fifty (the trusty Canon 50mm f1.8 lens) One day I dropped it and it broke. I promised to buy myself a replacement but just never got round to it. They’re not that expensive. Indeed they are probably one of the best value canon lenses on the market. So last week I decided it was time. Time to get me a new nifty fifty. So I purchase this rather tasty little bad boy. Looking forward to bokeh . #165 #365days #365photoproject
Poor beebug! I was shooting water all over the place, not realizing he was in this bloom. When I got near enough to photograph the flower, I saw him, wet and curled up in the centre of it. I got a twig and gently moved him out of the wet. Once out in the dry air, he became quite chiiper and got too wiggly to get a shot easily!
Week 47 of my Nifty Fifty for 52 challenge
This week's prompt is: Food
I love sharing something homemade or handmade with family and friends along with their Christmas gifts, and this year I've made a Christmas Jam for them (recipe found here: www.afamilyfeast.com/christmas-jam )
What an awesome piece of kit. Next is the 85mm f/1.4.
Such a shame about the price tag. Maybe Santa will be generous this year?

This is one of the first dozen or so shots with my brand spanking new boyfriend: My 60D! Yay! It's a bit different than my old Rebel XS, in that its obviously much better but it has more 2 more focal points and they are in different spots so that is going to take some getting used too. But so far so good and I love having the little LCD panel on top, so much handier!
Seen at today's Showbus rally was this very pleasing short and narrow re-bodied Plaxton Paramount Leyland Leopard in the livery of Thomas Bros of Llangadog.
From memory it was one of four treated to a new body whilst in Wallace Arnold ownership for tours which involved negotiating the narrow roads of Dart and Exmoor in the English south west. I always quite liked these and was pleased to see at least one of them survives.

A dog is a man's best friend...
This is Nell, a former breeding dog and puppy mill survivor. The breeder dumped her after the second Caesarian. Not longer "worth" as a breeding dog this guy seemed to be too glad to give her away. Nell is such a sweetheart and one of the nicest pooches I ever had. What a big heart she has and she still trusts humans, curious, fearless and loving everyone around her. She came into my life about two years ago when friends working in a shelter called me they needed an experienced French Bulldog owner. Nell was returned twice before because of behavioural issues. Behavioural issues...aha. Well if these issues refer to Nell doing potty in the house what about some training then? Beside that how was Nell to know she's not allowed of doing this when it didn't matter for 6 years living in a cage? Destroying things? Well, if you leave paper boxes be sure she'll gonna help you tearing them into pieces to better dump them in the trash can. Sneaking onto the couch and acting like it exploded? Have a good laugh and give Nell hugs. Nell not going for a walk? Either carry her outside or leash her and be as stubborn as her. You'll always win ;)
There are endless things I could tell but I can't see any behavioural issues. She's a Frenchie and if owning one you need to know them. Most ppl buy a French Bulldog because they're so cute, don't want to spend much money on them and then are "surprised" what kind of dog they have. Beside that you always have medical issues with this breed. The more ppl want this "fashion" dog the more puppy mills will breed them for fast money the more health issues this breed will have. What a vicious circle. To me as a bulldog lover the only way to get a bulldog (or any dog) is to adopt not shop
I am addicted to this lens. Enough said.

This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern that I started back in March 2013. I finished the quilting 9/21/15. It measures 69" x 78".
I took the plunge at last and bought meself a little "nifty fifty" mm lens. Haven't had much time to try it but to date, I think it will be good! Here is my GIANT cosmos plant shot from behind with the sun getting ready to set.
got this the other night...It's aweshum!!!
I smell a mod coming to one of my brickarms hand cannons...
My new lens arrived! The "nifty fifty" f1.8
Can't wait to go out with it, but it has been raining a lot here in Darwin the last couple of days.
I just took the camera out with me when I walked the dogs and had to run back as it started throwing it down - I got back just in time!
So, for now, I have just been testing it out around the house. So far, I love it!
This is a picture of my sweet basil plant. It's looking good at the moment, but apparently I am not very green fingered. It has been close to death probably four times now, and it keeps bouncing back! It's having a perky phase at the moment, but it's very slow to grow (don't think it likes the tropics!)
f1.8, focal length 50mm, shutter speed 1/60, ISO 100
Applied a slight cross-processing effect in a curves layer, lowered the saturation slightly, added a warming filter, and a bit of vignetting effect using layer masks and a levels layer.
If anyone is interested I can post a comparison image of the before and after. (Or does anyone know how to post images in the comments, without having them on Flickr separately?!)
Here's an up-close view of the lens that came with my Minolta X-370. As you can see, it's a 50mm f/1.7. However, what I find interesting about this lens is its all-metal construction and its rather sleek design.
Seriously, there's nothing else on this lens but a body and an aperture ring. No autofocus means no motor.
we used bobby pins to hold the binding in place while we stitched so as not to pierce the fabric any more than was necessary.
Fujifilm X-E1, Metabones Speed Booster & Minolta MC Rokkor PG 50mm f1.4
A great fast 50 which handles beautifully on the X-E1.
First trial for Product Photography.
No, i did not get any fancy flashes or softbox. I just reflected the pop up flash's light with a white cardboard onto a DIY box of white carboard. & the reflection is because the lens is on glass.
I'm looking forward to sell photos or do ads (like this kind of photos). So I tried this thing today. It turned out to be way better than I thought it would be. I took some other pretty good photos for some other stuff. Not sure If i'll upload any, anyway.

Day 228 of 365 - Nifty Fifty
I'll be the first to admit this is a lazy shot. Didn't have any creative ideas for today so I thought I would just shoot a product shot and this was about all I could think of. That said I kind of like how it turned out.

I've read about using a nifty fifty in reverse for macro shots recently, but thanks to Eliza Claire's post, I decided to give this a go today. I popped outside when the girls were in bed to take a couple of quick snaps using the technique and am very excited by the possibilites! This was taken in the wind and I was trying to snap between gusts, so I'm looking forward to getting sharper macros using the idea.
Week 45 of my Nifty Fifty for 52 challenge
This week's prompt is: Black and White
My daughter was begging me to let her use my "nice" camera as she's really taken an interest in photography of late... I kept saying no, so of course I then hear "Hey Mom, will you take my picture?"
Sure. Why not?
And in the end, I did indeed let her use my camera when we were done... after all, who am I to stand in the way of a curious budding photographer?!
