Completed by the end of the 16th century, the Sardinian Palace was opened in 1613: it then welcomed the Dukes of Savoy and the Kings of Sardinia during their stay in Nice.
In 1814 the building was elevated to royal residence: a few years later (1818), the architect Scoffier thus modified the façades and rebuilt the hall and staircase.
In 1860, following the annexation of the County of Nice by France, the Palais Sarde became the seat of the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture. It still is, although all the prefecture services were transferred in 1980 to the Administrative Centre (CADAM) of the Plaine du Var.
The building has been especially modified under the leadership of architects Dieudé-Défly and Barbet: north façade in 1892-1893, festival hall between 1893 and 1897, expansion to the south with a new facade with columns and overhaul of the east wing between 1905 and 1908.

Gloria Mansions was built by the architects Kevork Arsenian, Bernard Heams and Garabed Hovnanian for Egyptian promoter Nahapiet.
The architects built a modern building at the time, differing from most achievements in Nice in the 1930s.
In addition to its avant-garde, the Gloria Mansions is remarkable for the richness of its Art Deco architecture.
