New Year's Day

It is almost at its fullest and rose just before darkness.

6sec exposure with a key-chain torch

now thats just mean, haha

Wishing you all joy, health, and peace in the coming year.

Happy New Year to all my flickr friends.

It's been a very busy day as my cleaner, Sharon came and had a Christmas dinner with me. I had most of the ingredients from a company that produces excellent ready meals called Cook foods which reduced some of the work. Still a lot to do for an 86 year old but Sharon came in time to help with the last part. As I don't have a lot of oven space I decided to do my own roast root vegetables in the slow cooker which meant I was up early to see the sunrise. The meal was delicious but I was very exhausted!

as long as I don't go off the rails...

Jan. 1, 2022

Normally on the first day of the year, I would be scurrying about the kitchen, preparing vats of Hoppin' John for the 40-or-so people who join us for our annual open house. It's a wonderful celebration over bowls of steaming black-eyed peas and fresh-from-the-oven cornbread. All my various circles of friends mingle on that one day. And since we've been doing it for 15 years, now my ukulele friends recognize my neighbour friends; my Spanish club friends remember my client friends...and so on, and so on.

But this year, for the second year in a row, there is no party. No aroma of smoked pork hocks and beans. No nervous anticipation, wondering if I made enough of the vegetarian version, or whether I remembered to soften some butter so it's spreadable and cornbread-ready.

But hey. Maybe next year. For now, we'll just enjoy the last few hours of festive decorations before everything is packed away for another year.

The year has ended. Hello, 2011. The day was rather dark and sad looking. I wish the pictures were lighter, but this was the best I could do.

I've decided to start a 365 for the coming year. Wahoo!

My Rules are:

1. Not every photo needs to include myself.

2. I can upload pictures I have taken on different days, especially if on vacation or whatnot.

3. I don't know, I just wanted 3.

Happy New Year!!!

it's sunny now, but this new year's day started off socked in with fog in the marina -- beautifully quiet, and a lovely start to 2007

First sunrise 2025. The morning clouds hid the sun for awhile but the beach was as beautiful as ever. Eventually the sun came above the clouds and painted the limestone a golden yellow. Happy New Year!!

New Year • The Message Remains

I’m beginning 2025 with the same intentions I set each at the start of year. My wish for all of us remains simple and direct. I wish ALL of us love, peace and abundance in ALL things. May all of us work together a better world and hold space for our shared and individual prosperity. Stay illuminated. Love, CDM.

Happy New Year!

ODC: A Quiet Place,

It's New Year's morning, cold (3 degrees F. -feels like -21), light flurries falling and the roads are slippery-there's no one at all out and about.

I'm on the other side and 2015, for those not yet there, is looking pretty good ;). Taken at Bondi beach this morning and it was packed full of partygoers from all around the world.

we went the shrine for praying our happiness

Purple on the street

Pork loin, collard greens, black-eyed peas, and a homemade roll. And some Frank's hot-sauce for the collards. Happy New Year!

.....A kiss on the hand may be quite continental

But diamonds are a girl's best friend

A kiss may be grand but it won't pay the rental

On your humble flat, or help you at the automat

Men grow cold as girls grow old

And we all lose our charms in the end

But square cut or pear shaped

These rocks don't lose their shape

Diamonds are a girl's best friend......
