Walking away from the equipment and heading uphill toward a better view of the landscape, this noticeable tree trunk stuck out from the mass clearing. Being that I was already muddy, I knelled close to the ground concentrating on the tree's base while the machines looked like ghosts in the background.

There is surprisingly still lots of wildlife, despite the building that has taken place. The herons are plentiful as are other water birds. The river and the wildlife are the only two redeeming factors of living in the Thames Gateway.

Modern new constructions in the Cameron Highlands near Ipoh, Malaysia. Most of the new buildings in this town appeared to have these sharp, gabled roofs, be they high rise or single storeyed structures. Cameron Highlands is a beautiful hill station located in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. The area is known for its salubrious climate, lush greenery, and picturesque landscapes, apart from the many tea gardens, vegetable cultivation as well as fruit and flower farms. Mary Hill weaves through the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery plots and points out the eroding land around various headstones and tombs. Most of her family members and many generations of Pughsville natives are buried on land that is quickly eroding into a ravine connected to the Nansemond River behind the cemetery.
Newly developed and large-scale housing complexes and the expansion of a developing city have caused issues for the original residents of the neighborhoods, whose family members have lived there for generations. Septic issues, stormwater runoff, overflowing ditches and flooding, shoreline erosion, and water accessibility are just some of the issues worsened by the new developments surrounding this historically African-American neighborhood.
