Fishing boats on the water in front of the city of Dalian. Sao Xiao Ping Island is developing new industry and living on the Dalian coast by reclaiming land. The popular fishing and picnic spot will become a new development zone in the next year. 31/05/2008, Dalian, China.
Interested in local history, Paul Horne has mostly lived in and around Ipswich having worked for BT and SCC. He has been taking photos of the town with the array of changes across the place for over twenty years. The titles of the images are his, unedited and are mostly self-explanatory.
The Society is most pleased to have acquired these images for wider viewing and research.

Horrible - the destruction of more of our beautiful nature for what?....Ugly piecemeal, same of a kind gated communities which lock us out and yet our taxes pay for their needs - fire police...more more this is happening. Be aware..
Another view of some of the modern new constructions in the Cameron Highlands near Ipoh, Malaysia. Most of the new buildings in this town appeared to have these sharp, gabled roofs, be they high rise or single storeyed structures. We could not stop due to traffic restrictions, so I had to do much of the shots of the downtown area from my moving taxi- so please excuse the haze from the harsh mid morning sun and the blue tint from the sunproofing film on the windshield of the car. Overall, much of the retreat is still forested (estimated at 71%). Jungle trails lead visitors to tranquil spots, waterfalls, and aboriginal villages. Most of the hiking trails seem to begin in the suburb of Tanah Rata, and it is said that there are more than ten paths to pick and choose from. Depending on distance, some routes can take as long as five hours to cover. More notes about the Cameron Highlands appear elsewhere in this album. (see previous and subsequent pictures).
