A Bull Elk watches as his harem crossed the snake river to head into the woods for the day. I was after this particular image and after spending several mornings waiting for the herd to cross, they finally obliged. The lead female comes and assess the situation and once its ok they all cross.

Part of my Surfcoast /Great Ocean Road trip. Landed in Torquay and the weather had been ordinary for a couple of days, luckily this particular morning the weather was kind and gave me a chance to take a few shots.

Sunrise on Monviso

Berlin, May/2021

Days passed and it didn't look like the weather was getting better. A friend on the road came with news "Looks like tomorrow's the sun is coming out". We couldn't believe what we heard... I woke up at 3 AM in the morning to check the forecast.. It looked... "promising"? Little snowflakes where falling and it was cold AF. Decided to take the risk, woke up everyone who wanted to go for it and started the walk from Laguna Capri to the base of the Mountain. The goal was to get the sunrise from above. Cloudy conditions made it difficult to get the shot, though it left everything in a perfect state. Clean air and beautiful clouds. After a long walk back, I couldn't stop starring at this massive chunk of rock coming out of the horizon. It was my second time on the National Park, and I knew some cool viewpoints of the complex. Kept thinking about this place in particular.

I believe this one is one of the most soothing places to gaze at this imposing sage, who has more than one thing to teach you. Of course, it depends on our perspective on what we receive as a teaching, and finally, it's just us listening to our essence.

I hope everyone can meet this giant at least once in their life. Please feel free to send me any messages asking for information about this place or other places in Chile! Id love to help you! Cheers!

🎶 “It’s gonna be a bright, bright, sunshiny day...” 🎶🌻☀️ #TGIF

Does anyone else swing on the mind-bending pendulum of holding two opposing truths at the same time? ...case-in-point: the world feels like a raging dumpster fire right now 🙈, but also, beautiful treasures exist right under our very noses. 💫 Because danggg this ride feels as disorienting as an out-of-control tilt-a-whirl. 😅

On the flip side, here is an image I captured a few weeks ago, and I would like to share it with whoever may need it. A big field of golden sunflowers dancing freely in the warm breeze of a summer evening. A calm moment in an upset world; a dose of hope that the sun is still shining behind the clouds. ⛅️

Stay safe, stay healthy, stay hopeful. 💛

Next to the damaged reactor 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, a huge construction site is still frozen in time: units 5 and 6, never completed. Two cooling towers were being built for that expansion — one lower, one rising much higher. This is the taller one. If you look closely at the rim, you can still see the scaffolding and the formwork traces up there, like the last sentence of a project that was never allowed to end properly.

Inside, it’s pure scale. The white tiled skin curves upward into a perfect circle of sky, and the concrete pillars stand like unfinished punctuation marks. The catwalk leads the eye straight into that “eye” above — a view that had been stuck in my head for a long time, and one I hadn’t seen before in quite this way.

Getting to the spot wasn’t casual. It was dangerous — but it wasn’t reckless. Roughly ten meters up, balancing on a narrow concrete beam, you feel every step and every shift of weight. The only way it makes sense is with a clear plan, full focus, and an honest assessment of what you can handle. With a partner handing up the camera it becomes more manageable and predictable. Alone, the same line would carry a very different kind of risk — not just physically, but mentally too, because there’s no buffer if something goes wrong.

Ohh, to be a fat happy seal on the beach enjoying life at my own pace... 😂

:

📷 Photo captures a solo female Northern Elephant Seal (Mirounga angustirostris) basking in the hazy sunlight on a central Californian beach. The remainder of the rookery was clustered a few hundred yards up the beach. A handful of very large adult males flipped dry sand onto their backs while about a dozen very active juveniles were in the surf, doing what juvenile creatures do best: playing, fighting, yelling, splashing — basically running amuck. It’s no wonder this little lady chose to inchworm her way beyond the masses for some good ol’ fashioned “me-time”. Friends of the Elephant Seal, San Simeon, CA; Sept 2017. 🌊🐘

Happy Pollinator Week! 🐝

Fourteen years ago (2007), in an effort to address the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations, the U.S. Senate unanimously designated one week in June to pollinators. This week is a time to celebrate pollinators and spread the word about what humans can do to help protect them. 🌼

Why does this matter? How does this even effect us? Well, for one, there are more than 200,000 species of pollinators worldwide. And, more than 75% of flowering plant species need the help of pollinators in order to fertilize. Over 1,000 plants worldwide are grown specifically for human consumption (food, beverages, spices, medicine, etc), and guess what?! They all need to be pollinated in order to make the resources on which we depend. So, in short, without pollinators we would not have a lot of the things that we rely on every single day. 🌸

Captured here is a monarch butterfly nectaring a red clover flower. Spotted in Upstate NY, August 2015.

For more information about pollinators and ways you can help, check out The Pollinator Partnership. Consider giving a donation, or planting a few native flowering plants in your yard, or even just educating yourself about the pollinators in your neighborhood. A little bit goes a long way. 💫
