An investigation into the phenomenological effect of environmental audio and verbal interactions on mental and neurological health sufferers.
Despite attempts to de-stigmatise mental, neurological and genetic health conditions and sufferers in society, there is a still a huge amount of misunderstanding from the general public. Some members of the public try to shy away from discussing these issues and often attempt to avoid coming into contact with those diagnosed with the conditions, while others do not know how to react with some of the erratic behaviour patterns displayed and end up embarrassed and frustrated in public.
It is exactly the same, however, for those who are suffering. Sufferers do not want to be seen as difficult to deal with, they want to be treated the same as everyone else in society.
This project aims to create three films that feature everyday scenarios, featuring characters suffering from Autism, Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and show how the audio of the environment around them can have a phenomenological and overwhelming effect on sufferers and also how it drives them into their erratic behaviour patterns which can cause the aforementioned embarrassment and frustration in public, as well as subjecting those afflicted to ridicule.

The basis of all NLP skills and all communication between individuals and species comes from our mirror neurons. Found in the frontal cortex of the brain they will light up when someone else does some sort of action.
It is through the copying actions that we emulate in others that we learn how to use speech and tools and cultural structures. In short, without mirror neurons you would be unable to understand the video or what is written here.
Scientists now think that mirror neurons emerged in humans approximately 100,000 years ago and allowed us to create fire, tools and agriculture as well as shelter and language.
Mirror neurons also allow us to experience empathy even when just observing another individual.

Steinhof (Vienna)
Steinhof Church
Steinhof is an ancient topographical name that is derived from the previously in that area present Ottakringer quarries and stone deposits which were called Steinhöfe (stone courts). At that time, the area belonged to the province of Lower Austria, the parliament of which decided to build in 1902 a care and nursing home. This one was on that part of the territory built which bears the name of Spiegelgrund and - at the same time as the sanatorium Baumgartnerhöhe in the western part of the complex - opened in the year 1907. Today, the area belongs to the 14th district, Penzing, in Vienna.
In the spa rooms in the western part of the complex, the former sanatorium, in which mainly rich private patients were housed, the operation of the main complex to a large extent could be financed by the revenues from them.
Otto Wagner Hospital
The by the Viennese Hospital Association run Psychiatric Hospital and Center of Pulmology of the city of Vienna was built according to plans by Otto Wagner and opened in 1907. It consists of sixty pavilions, designed they have been by Carlo von Boog as well as the Art Nouveau theater in the center.
In 2000 under the designation Socio-Medical Centre Baumgartner Höhe Otto Wagner Spital with care center five health facilities were summarized (Supporting Nursing Home Baumgartner Höhe, Neurological Hospital Maria Theresa Schlössl, Nursing home Sanatorium road, Psychiatric Hospital Baumgartner Höhe and Pulmological center Baumgartnerhöhe).
Otto-Wagner-Church
The visual highlight forms the Church to the Holy Leopold by Otto Wagner. After its striking dome that resembles the half of a lemon, the place is also called Lemoni hill. The church at Steinhof reopened in 2007 after being closed for several years due to total renovation work. It is among the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings of Vienna.
Memorial to the history of Nazi Medicine in Vienna
In the V-building is located the exhibition "The war against the inferior" of the Austrian Documentation Centre (entrance to the exhibition backwards).
In the center is also situated the memorial to the history of Nazi Medicine in Vienna with a memorial and exhibition. In the in those time called Am Spiegelgrund institution numerous euthanasia murders were committed.
Steinhof grounds
The adjacent to the north 45-acre Steinhof grounds were once a part of the hospital and were used for horticultural purposes. Still today, there are many old fruit trees, which are a unique habitat in Vienna with their partially thick trunks and their high proportion of old and dead wood. Since 2009, by the MA 49 - Vienna Forestry Office - over 400 young fruit trees of good old and reliable regional varieties were replanted to maintain the character of the area. In the 1950s, stood on the site a medium-wave transmitter from which was broadcasted the program red-white-red of the American army. The concrete foundations today are still preserved. In the 1970s there were plans to develop the area. However, as in a community-wide Viennese referendum from 10 to 12 December 1981 was demonstrated that the majority of the population rejected the project - of more than 267,000 participating persons were 53.46% against the project, the Steinhof grounds finally as by the Forestry Bureau of the city of Vienna supervised recreation area have been preserved.
Future
Day of inspection on 21 September 2011
In April 2006, planifications were published according to which the Psychiatric department in the eastern part of the Otto Wagner Hospital are to be relocated to other locations. The area then should be used for homes, hotels or premises. The existing buildings, however, by doing so should not to be altered substantially, so that the entire ensemble is maintained.
There are against this project (as in the similar case of TMI, the former Versorgungsheim Lainz - hospital) criticism from the Green party and the ÖVP (Austrian People's Party). According to their interpretation of the plans, it would be quite possible that then the currently existing green spaces are developed. The mid-December 2006 adopted new zoning plan for the Steinhof grounds appears mitigated to the original project.
After a partial sale of the hospital complex at to two major developers, the plans have materialized. In a public inspection of the eastern part of the site on 21 September 2011 and in a citizen's assembly on 28 September clearly resistance was articulated, especially from circles of neighbours.
Steinhof (Wien)
Bezirk, Penzing in Wien.
