Brig. Gen. Peter Gallagher (left), NETCOM commanding general, presents John L. Scott, Major General (USA Retired) with a certificate proclaiming him a Distinguished Member of the U.S. Army Signal Regiment, during a ceremony Oct. 30, at Greely Hall. Scott distinguished himself within the Regiment over the course of nearly 40 years as both a government civilian with the Information Systems Command, culminating his career as the Chief Integration Officer of the Army’s Chief Information Office/G-6. Starting out as an active duty infantry lieutenant in Vietnam, Scott transferred into the Army Reserves where he held a number of positions to include the commander of the Reserve tank battalion on Fort Huachuca in the 1980s. Scott was brought back on active duty immediately after Sept. 11, 2001, assigned to the CIO/G-6 to lead the transformation of the Signal Regiment. (U.S. Army photo by Eric Hortin)
