The Buffet is rated one of the best dive bars in Tucson by both the Arizona Daily Star and Esquire Magazine. Esquire also rates the Buffet as one of the best dive bars in the nation.
Established in 1934, the Buffet claims to be Tucson's oldest bar.

McCarthy had the right idea when they opened their Flower Business on South St., as there are many funeral parlors and churches in the area. And it borders the business area of Wilkes-Barre, and this is a further factor in McCarthy's success.
I just "discovered" this cool relic in Joliet; thought I'd seen every last old sign in town.
The portion to the right is pretty unusual--I think it read "Air conditioning". It appeared to be bulb lit?

No such listing comes up in any search now, but this is right behind Maricela Beauty Salon at 1802 E Harding Way in Stockton, CA.
Founded 1958, date of neon unknown. With 50 lanes, this is the largest bowling center north of Reno and west of the Mississippi.
This sign is special to me, because it came from a shoe store on 53rd St in Hyde Park. I got shoes there as a kid in the 1970's.

Unfortunately, only "bakery" still lights up; both "hiway" and the little baker with cake don't light up anymore.
