A vintage neon sign on a closed liquor store, 533 Holmes St., Frankfort KY - Sept 2010. Note the "Chicago" style supports on the roof and parapet wall.
Sign on vacant business in Gary. The other side says "PANCAKE" below "HAMBURGERS," but this shot was better
Toupee man takes a momentary interest in skull-shirt boys electric bike while the wife gets her handbag out of range.
Didn't do much today besides go out for sushi. This is basically the same as this day except from behind and one neon sign over at the same restaurant. I'm gonna have to be extra creative if I want to do another PoTD out of this place.
Vintage 1980s Lotto neon sign seen in a junk shop masquerading as a thrift store. Not sure if it was even for sale or just a remnant from an earlier business located in the same space.
it's no Roeser's Bakery sign (I don't know about their food, never been in there) but I had to finally get a shot of this one I've seen many times
Georgia’s Eastside BBQ 🍖 in the Lower East Side just recently closed after 11 years in business. The owner reports that they closed “due to a variety of reasons, principally construction 🚧 problems.” Sadly, this small business has been plagued by construction 🔨 noise, obstructing scaffolding and other issues due to the new luxury condo building going up on the corner of Orchard and Houston Street.
A Motel in Tasmania I stayed at. It was actually a very nice place, but the sign really had it's own style..made me think of gangsters and prostitues and stolen money and drugs and oh something went wrong along the way and the cops are there now and bullets fly and someone innocent gets hit and with my luck that would have probably been me...but luckely Tassie seems too layed back for such stories :)
Oh and it's straight out of the camera, no post processing.
I liked finding an older-style Walgreens store; there aren't many in Chicago, especially not with neon. Remember, just about any Walgreens shots you have can go to this group: www.flickr.com/groups/walgreens/pool/
Capturing different shades of light on the outside wall from the neon sign by using different manual settings on the Canon T5i.
Unused 24 Hour Service neon sign hanging in the window of the Portland Airport post office.
While this location's hours are impressively expansive--even open on Sundays, this location's hours will probably never be the same as the former 24 hour convenience it once offered.
Latest collection times are 8:30pm Monday-Friday and 9:00pm Saturday. The Main Post Office in Downtown Portland has a Monday-Saturday last collection time of 9pm.

Classic neon @ Neonopolis, Las Vegas, NV, 2008
I used a frosting filter at the edges and chose an offsetting color
This is really Matt's shot. He's the one who spied it. I have a version that blacks out the "noise" but I like what it adds.
