Pine needles after the rain.

Colorado is not one of the first places I think of for volcanic activity, but Needle Rock is indeed a plug of magma near the Elk Mountains. Erosion has exposed the core prominently near Montrose.

My previous upload from the Quiraing (see first comment box) asks the question 'Why did I drag myself up here?' - this image was taken less than an hour later after a drizzly lunch on the Table, and probably answers this question! My husband and dog provide useful scale next to the Needle. The Prison is visible far below on the left.

It's the bonsai pine again.

Kootenay National Park. They almost look like plastic.

Standing like sentries,they sway,metronomically and gently, in a warm breeze.

Needle frost formations on tiny blades of grass and stems.

Horizontal lightning as severe thunderstorms rocketed through SW Virginia.

Pine needle , leaf caught in water. The most interesting thing about this image was this ..Most of the leaf , and the pine needle was submerged in water and it gave a filter effect ..The one part of droplet on the leaf was not submerged in the water and gave the true color of the leaf...
