The 2016 Lancaster County 4-H Horse Awards Night was held Sept. 29. The evening recognized top achievements at the Lancaster County Super Fair and other accomplishments throughout the past year.

Eighteen 4-H youth ages 8 and older practiced beginning sewing skills while constructing pajama pants or shorts at the "4-H Jammie Jamboree" sewing workshop on March 3, 2018. Youth brought their sewing machine, sewing supplies, choice of fabric and pajama bottom pattern.

4-H'ers learned how to cut and measure fabric, use a pattern, use an iron to neatly press open seams, and thread and sew. Each sewer also had the opportunity to use a serger machine to finish seam edges.

Fair Clothing Superintendents hosted the workshop. Adult volunteers and parents were on hand for one-on-one guidance.

The 4-H English Horse Show at the Lancaster County Super Fair include numerous "in hand" (horse is led, not ridden) and riding classes where horse and rider must be in english tack and attire. Horses used are hunter-type horses.

4-H English Horse Show includes English Equitation (pictured) which showcases the exhibitor's horsemanship (skill at riding horses). A specific pattern is provided ahead of time.

4-H and FFA youth in the sheep animal science project learn how to take care of and show sheep. Showmanship classes (pictured) emphasize the youth's handling and knowledge of their animals.
