The 2016 Lancaster County 4-H Horse Awards Night was held Sept. 29. The evening recognized top achievements at the Lancaster County Super Fair and other accomplishments throughout the past year.

All Nebraska 4-H'ers who exhibit market animals must complete Quality Assurance Training. Lancaster County held a training June 7, 2016. Youth practiced the proper method of giving intramuscular, intravenous and subcutaneous injections.

4-H youth in the horse animal science project learn how to take care of, groom, and show horses. The 4-H Miniature Horse Show at the Lancaster County Super Fair includes Showmanship (based on the youth's handling of their horse) and Halter (the horse's body structure is judged).

In the 4-H Table Setting Contest at the 2015 Lancaster County Super Fair, youth selected a theme and displayed one place setting, including table covering, dishes, glassware, silverware, centerpiece and menu. Youth chose one of the following categories: formal, casual, picnic or birthday.

During the contest, set up their table and have five minutes to present their table setting to a judge. After all judging is complete, the public is welcome to view the tables.
