Pre nuclear power stations, local fishing boats used to navigate home by lining up the lighthouse with the Church tower in Lydd. Following the building of Nuclear Power Station 'A', the church was no longer visible and at the time GPS was not a known aid.

Two structures were erected on the beach – one a diamond shape and the other a ‘T’, seen to the east of the power station. Fishing boat crews would simply line the ‘T’ up in the diamond and head straight for home! No one seems to have an answer as to what happened when foggy! Today of course the faithful ‘sat nav’ is an affordable item of equipment.

No GPS here.

There is a post in the left side of the frame. Not the tree just right of center. No trail in the boulder field, you just hop from rock to rock, from post to post. Trying to find the next post in the pea soup was a fun game!

This aid appears to be listing. Maybe it's due to the heavy birds resting on it.

I think the birds are Double-crested Cormorants but I understand Great cormorants are found here too.

This was a posted Navigation chart showing our course from Ushuaia around Cape Horn to the Falklands and onward toward Montevideo, Uruguay. HOWEVER, my GPS as well as pictures showed we went 'round the Horn counter-clockwise, so I didn't put much faith in these charts as far as the course was concerned.
