I really wanted to head to the Valley of Fire in Nevada and get some more milky way shots. But when I ventured out there on Monday night, not only was the moon too bright for any real milky way shots, but the wind was super strong and kept shacking the camera + tripod.
So I made the best of it and kept the tripod really low and lay down in the middle of the road for a short star trail.
Goddamit, another one where flickr has sharpened the image, anyone else noticing this lately? Doubt i'll renew my pro membership this year.

Pour rejoindre Muang Ngoi Neua pas d'autre possibilité que le bateau et naviguer sur la superbe Nam Ou ! la Nam Ou étant le but de ce voyage au nord du Laos...
Un seul départ par jour depuis Muang Khua donc il ne faut pas se rater et le bateau part seulement si il est plein bien sur :)
6h de navigation sur un bateau de transport traditionnel à fonds plat, assis sur un petit bout de planche et sans arrêt bien sur sauf pour prendre quelques passagers venant de touts petits villages situés le long de la Nam Ou.
Des paysages fantastiques fait de jungles verdoyantes, de petits villages perdus, de boeufs tranquillement allongés à l'ombre ou bien encore de rapides aussi flippant qu'excitants !
Un petit bout d'aventure sur une des plus belles rivières qu'il m'ait été donné de voir !

El Monumento a los Descrubridores (en portugués, Monumento aos Descobrimentos) actual es una réplica del que fuera construido en hierro y cemento en 1940, con motivo de realizarse la Exposición del Mundo Portugués que fue demolido en 1958 y reemplazado por otro en materiales más nobles.
El momento escogido fue la conmemoración de los 500 años del fallecimiento del Infante Don Enrique, conocido como Enrique el Navegante, y la inauguración tuvo lugar en agosto de 1960.
Evocando la expansión marÃtima de Portugal en el siglo XVI, el monumento se levanta en forma de carabela alcanzando una altura de 52 metros. A ambos lados, el escudo de Portugal destaca en lo alto, mientras que sobre la puerta de entrada está grabada la espada de la dinastÃa Avis.
La figura central del grupo escultórico conformado por 33 figuras es, evidentemente, la de Enrique el Navegante, que en lo alto de la composición sostiene una carabela mientras parece observar horizontes lejanos. Detrás de él y a cada lado, en dos filas descendentes, se pueden descubrir personajes destacados de la historia portuguesa que directa o indirectamente tuvieron relación con la Era de los Descubrimientos.
Entre las figuras más destacadas se encuentran Afonso V (patrocinador de las primeras expediciones), Vasco da Gama (descubridor de la ruta marÃtima a las Indias), Pedro Alvarez Cabral (descubridor de Brasil), Fernando de Magallanes (primer navegante en dar la vuelta al mundo), Diogo Cão (el primero en llegar al rÃo Congo), Bartolomeu Dias (primero en dar la vuelta al Cabo de Buena Esperanza), Afonso de Albuquerque (virrey de las Indias Portuguesas), Luis de Camoes (poeta autor de las LusÃadas, relato épico sobre la era de los descubrimientos), el rey Manuel I (figura central de la Edad de Oro) y Pedro Nunes (matemático y cosmógrafo cuyos aportes a la navegación fueron cruciales en la época). La única mujer en el grupo escultórico es la madre de Enrique el Navegante, doña Filipa de Lencastre.
The Memorial to the Descrubridores (in Portuguese, Monument Descobrimentos years) now is a replica of it was made of iron and cement in 1940, during the Exposition of the Portuguese World was demolished in 1958 and replaced by a more noble materials .
The timing was the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry, known as Henry the Navigator, and the inauguration took place in August 1960.
Evoking the maritime expansion of Portugal in the sixteenth century, the monument stands as a caravel reaching a height of 52 meters. On both sides of the shield of Portugal stands out on top, while on the entrance door is carved the sword from the Avis dynasty.
The central figure of the sculptural group made up of 33 figures is, of course, that of Henry the Navigator, that at the top of the composition maintains a caravel while seeming to observe distant horizons. Behind him and on each side, in two rows down, you can discover important figures in Portuguese history that directly or indirectly were related to the Age of Discovery.

The only woman in the sculpture is the mother of Henry the Navigator, Dona Filipa de Lencastre.

It is all action momentarily by the Navigation Inn on Marsh Road at Whitehouse Crossing, Middlesbrough on 12th July 2016; A Network Rail van waits at the crossing as DB Cargo 66140 heads a Scunthorpe-Lackenby steel train and a Saltburn-Darlington 'Pacer' DMU service meets in the opposite direction. Cargo Fleet was once an incredible hive of steel-making activity and undoubtedly this public house would have many a tale to tell if it could talk, but nevertheless it is a remarkable survivor through troubled times, business probably helped by visitors from the nearby football stadium. The 1874-built signal box was demolished during the period 13-16 November 2021.
Oh yes, the cyclist has been 'dropped' into the image in PS to balance the composition, taken a short time before.

In the 1950s and 1960s, four large passenger ships were built for Lake Lugano navigation, operating mainly in the touristic season while smaller boats operated the all-year commuter services. With a financial crisis in the early 2000s, two of them were put out of service, with MS "Italia" and "Lugano" as the remaining two large units. The latter, built in 1961, is seen here near Brusino Arsizio on a trip from Ponte Tresa to Lugano.
