This photograph captures the stark beauty of a dried sunflower head. The image is dominated by the dark brown, textured surface of the sunflower, which contrasts with the soft, blurred green background. The lighting highlights the intricate details of the dried petals and exposed seeds. The overall impression is one of decay and the passage of time, yet there's a certain elegance in the simplicity of the composition.
Following on from my previous shot, "Fenland Sky", this is the Nature walk which has been made along the track of the former March - Lincoln railway. I remember from when I was a boy trains running along this route, this nature walk stops at Guyhirn and is now also part of a cycle network. The old railway line used to run through our garden at our home which is a mile or so away. Marley our dog loves to run along this path and Ross loves to pick the blackberrys which are plentyful at this time of year.
This image presents a detailed view of rose hips, showcasing their unique characteristics and natural beauty. The shallow depth of field draws attention to the foreground rose hip, while the blurred background creates a sense of tranquility and focus.

Southern Ontario just went through the worst ice storm in many years. Trees some hundreds of years old were destroyed by the weight of the two inch thick ice that encased their branches. So many branches broke under the weight of the ice that entire parks and forests were decimated.

Today’s nature walk in Central Tucson revealed this alert mourning dove high above us in a large mesquite tree. It was a beautiful bright sunshiny day
The South County Trailway is a 14.1-mile long stretch of the Old Putnam Railroad that starts at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx and goes to East View, New York. There is also a 22.1 mile North County Trailway that goes up to the Town of Mt. Pleasant. This view is the Woodlands area of Ardlsey, New York.
From the small two-deck observation tower at the end of 650' boardwalk that wanders through the mangroves and wetland property on north side of Robert K. Rees Memorial Park. this is a view of walking toward the observation point.
A lovely lighthouse is situated at the banks on the east side of GWB in Manhattan. I had the pleasure of making this hike from UES in Manhattan. With dog in tow and Lowepro camera backpack I set out on 7.6 mile journey. The Hudson River Greenway affords good photo opportunities along the way. A day in my life.

hiking in the fall at the gorge is always a treat for me. seeing the changing leaves and the overgrown ferns and moss and fungi all over the trail. leave no trace, wear your damn mask, be courteous and share the path.
A close-up shot captures a house sparrow (Passer domesticus) resting on a network of bare, brown tree branches. The bird is positioned centrally, showcasing its distinctive grey cap, white cheeks, and brown and black plumage. The background is a vibrant, cloudless blue sky, indicating a clear and sunny day. Small, reddish buds are visible on some of the branches, suggesting the season is late winter or early spring.
