“All Aboard!”

~~~~~~~~~~
When I was in college, I commuted daily by way of train. I’d have to be there early to catch the morning train. I would be in class all day either in lectures or on computers. Sometimes I’d have to walk 7 city blocks to get between the two campus buildings. After 8 hours, I was exhausted. Taking the train home, I’d put my music on and relax. The slow rocking back and forth of the car would tempt me to fall asleep. One particularly tiring day, I did fall asleep. When I finally woke up, I had passed my stop. Slept right through it. I had to call my dad to pick me up at one station, to take me to another in order to pick up my car.
In many ways, life is the ultimate train. Throughout your lifetime, you make many stops that will form who we are over the years. Each new train station, or chapter of life, comes and goes while the train of life never stops moving. When we are comfortable where we are, we get off the train and hang out at that stop until we are ready for a new one. At that point, we jump back on the train and move on. When the station we need comes, we need to be sure not to sleep through it! Stay alert and know when to get off. No one can and/or will force us off the train and no one can and/or will make us get on. It is up to us. When we are ready to move on, we will. So, we need to ask ourselves, are we comfortable where we are in life? Or is it time to move on?
“Up The Junction” ~ ¥
~~~~~~~~~~

It’s the classic tale. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, move in together and have a baby. Sometimes, we mess up the “classic love story” with problems which causes our life to derail. Sure, we may wake up and realize how we messed up. Unfortunately, by then it’s three years later and it’s too late to fix that mistake. Without a Third Rail to drive us, we’ll have no place to go.

It’s not over yet! We can still find our third rail! When we find it, we need to hang on, don’t let go and follow it, where ever it may take us. We still have time to stop ourselves from being Up The Junction!

“Beyond Our World” ~ ¥

~~~~~~~~~~
Let’s face it, we all know that our world revolves around ourselves. Not in a conceited way. Rather, our world contains us, our family and friends. We often forget that there are other people, other cultures all living in their own little world on this giant planet. When we watch TV, we are jumping into the world of those characters.
We vacation in spots that are the opposite end of our spectrum. If we live in a land-locked city, we tend to vacation at the beach. If we live in the mountains, we tend to vacation in the city. My family and I live in a big city, very cramped. So, when on vacation, we like to get out where there is plenty of space and a whole different culture. We like to experience new things. We vacation in Lancaster, Pa. There is a large Amish community out there who hold old-world values sacred. They run at a much slower pace with way less stress. Just as fascinating as their culture is to us, the English world fascinate them. It’s not every day that you see their curiosity so candidly captured.
Don’t be so afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and learn new things. Once you do that, you’ll be surprised how interesting life can get.
Amish Advisory:
Before publishing, I consulted to a friend of mine who left the Amish community. These are her words:
“There is no problem with the photo having their faces in it. Some people get all bent out of shape over someone posting pictures of the Amish. The Amish do not have a problem with it. Most of them will not pose for photos because they consider photos to be graven images and they don't want to see their faces in a picture. But it does not concern them what others do with a photo of them. They understand that they peak a lot of curiosity from outsiders and are used to being photographed by them. They just don't want to own a photo of themselves, but they're not going to care if the world has a photo of them.”
