A close-up view of a vivid pink Cosmos bipinnatus flower, also known as Mexican aster, captured on a walk through Longmont, Colorado. The petals are wide and gently notched, radiating outward from a dense yellow center of tiny disk florets. The shallow depth of field lets the intricate structure of the flower shine against a softly blurred background of natural tones.

This image was taken in early afternoon using the Nikon Zf paired with the Nikon F-mount Micro 105mm f/2.8 macro lens via FTZ adapter, showcasing this versatile lens’s ability to render fine floral detail with rich color.

Each morning, as sunlight filters through the soft green canopy, a little lizard takes its post on the moringa stalk. With silent stillness and watchful eyes, it waits—blending perfectly with leaf and bark. To others, it’s just part of the tree. But in this quiet corner of the garden, it's the unseen guardian, keeping watch over a world alive with whispers and wings.

A tight cluster of Common Puffballs (Lycoperdon perlatum), photographed on the upper ridge of Sonoma Mountain. These distinctive fungi are known for their dense covering of tiny, conical spines, which give them their nickname: gem-studded puffballs.

This species often appears in small groups on rich forest soil and decomposing plant matter, contributing to the breakdown of organic debris. When young, they are bright white and covered with spines; as they mature, the spines shed and the interior turns into a mass of spores that release through a pore at the top. A beautiful example of the subtle textures and diversity found in the autumn forest floor.

Colaptes auratus). There was a nest nearby, and three Flickers flew into this tree. I was shooting with my macro lens at the moment, but ran back to my car and switched lenses to capture at least this one.

Found on the east side of Fern Lake on Sonoma Mountain, this Amanita muscaria was emerging from the leaf litter in the cool, foggy forest.

This image is a 48-frame focus stack to capture all the delicate textures of the cap and stem while keeping the forest background soft and atmospheric.

Nature, like a hidden tailor of time, weaves stories that outlast seasons.

Look closely — the light itself is caught in the threads.

I grew some Nasturtiums from seed and planted them in a hanging basket. They have bloomed all Summer long and the increase in sunshine has shown them in a beautiful light.

They have been a magnet for the bees who like to get right inside to the nectar.

I captured this one as was backlit for a few minutes by the sun.
