Took this a couple of years ago in Southeastern Utah, near Mexican Hat and Halchits off US-163. I've only driven my truck through here a couple of times, it's not the shortest or fastest way, but I had extra time on my load, so the scenic route won the day. Big beautiful clouds that day, and the red reflected up onto the undersides.

The light was good, and I was noticing how the weeds along US-97 a bit south of Biggs were kinda glowing, so I decided to see if I could get a decent shot.

Had to check out Little Cottonwood Canyon while home for some Rest & Relaxation. Found a couple of new spots and was happy to see the water is down from last month, I think it will be perfect for the shots I'm looking in August.

This is part of the Nevada Salt Flats, between Reno an Winnemucca. For me the two flat bottom clouds sealed the deal on this shot.

Decided to head up Little Cottonwood Canyon again before hitting the road Wednesday. This time I went later, so no filters needed. Climbed down amongst the bolders, found my perch, and began taking pictures, feeling renewed and excited, like the energy from the stream was rushing into my body, left exhilarated and relaxed. I love this place.

You may want to take a closer look at this one. Apologies to the lovely cow.

This shot from the middle of the Little Cottonwood Canyon stream was my most adventurous effort. I worked myself across a couple of larger bolders, found one bolder to setup my tripod and camera and while straddling two rocks I barely managed to get my eye to the view finder without losing my balance. I only took a couple of shots from this spot. Decided why push my luck, I was more worried about my gear, I doubt I'd have gotten seriously hurt. The 2 second shutter speed was as long as I dared go without solid footing.

Inside my truck cab I sometimes feel large and cramped, but walking in nature, perspective changes all that. Looking up into the night in the middle of nowhere, all those star's, unimaginably far away, now that's perspective. Time is the same.

Took this picture last November on a foggy morning in Oregon, Jefferson Rest stop. Took several pictures I really like. The couple walking their dogs, so small next to the tall trees.

Stopped for some tree tree fun. ICM intentional camera movies.

At the time when I took the photo, I was wondering what's happening. Toilets everywhere. I knew the City Hall is full of shit, but during the first lockdowns the city closed all public toilets. A day later I realized the Air Show is in town, as they flew over my abode. Lakeshore Boulevard was a destination for many people on Labour Day weekend and I hazard to guess that all these blue port-a-potties were not enough.

Stopped for a break a few miles from my next load pickup. Made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and took a walk into the nearby woods. Back to the truck, a mini nap and a look at what I'd been photographing. I liked this in color, but liked it better like this. I do daydream a lot, and that's what popped into my head as I ponder a title. So there ya have it.

Here's another dragonfly from the pond on top of Donner Pass.

While this spot is beautiful and calm, getting here was way more difficult than I'd bargained for. I mentioned the other day that I stopped just before dark near Canyonville, OR off I-5 to take some pictures of Canyon Creek. The creek crosses under I-5 on it's way down the canyon many times. There are large tunnels at each of the spots and the site of the tunnels are where I go to get down into the ravine. On the right side of this picture the ravine connects to the side of a mountain. This was the first time I'd gone down at this location, I've been to this creek several times before, but at different spots. It's always a bit difficult, because the sides of the ravine are pretty steep and footing is not great, but when it's dry it's manageable.

Well, Friday it was wet, the moss, leaves, rocks, and it was all slippery and loose. I proceeded cautiously but my footing kept giving way, finally I slipped, fell on my right side, and slide the last six feet to the bottom. I was fine, my camera got a little dirty, but wasn't damaged.

Oh well, I thought, you're here now, take some pictures and then figure out how to get back out. After taking 6 or 7 long exposure pictures at several spots, decided it was time to get out before it got too dark. I was really having problems getting traction and was worried about getting up and then falling off the narrow ridge I'd come in on. I thought about crossing the stream and going up the other side, it didn't have steep drop offs, but was full of briar's, plus, actually what had me the most worried was how slippery the rocks were, even on the banks, and I worried I fall in the stream, which wasn't' deep, but my camera would likely get soaked and I would probably get hurt if I did fall. Anyway, long story here, so what I ended up doing was going up the side I'd come down on, but further up stream, problem was I had to go up very high, and it was a nightmare. Took me about 45 minutes to get out, only about 10 to get in. I didn't have my phone with me, and sure didn't want to spend the night down there, night temps would be well below freezing and all I had on was my jacket and a vest.

I should have been smarter, no picture is worth risking injury or worst for. Thankfully it all worked out fine, and I did get some pretty cool pictures.

The links below are pictures I took from the top before going down.

Took this shot in the Dimple Dell area of Salt Lake County while heading to Little Cottonwood Canyon for some LE shots of the stream.

This is PROBABLY my last posting from this hike at the Carbon River Entrance. Such a beautiful place and it's calling my name.

It's been dumping rain all week and I'm going a bit stir crazy, having a folder full of these picks isn't helping. I think I just spent five minutes 'walking' through this one. I intend to camp at Ipsuit, which is at the edge of vision and off to the right up there somewhere and hike onward to Carbon Glacier this summer and the wait is killing me. can't wait to see what's up that mountain. :-)

A beautiful spot in Montreal's, Mount Royal Park! Best viewed

This was taken in Georgia as I waited for traffic to move. It was raining but I was nice and dry inside the cab of my truck. I should write a book, "The Lazy Man's Way to Photography". I'm an opportunist photographer, gotta be with my job.

Took this shot at the southbound Cottonwood rest area just south of Redding California. Something about this shot that makes me happy, like the flowers are shouting for Joy... where is Joy anyway?

Took this back in November, but thought it exemplifies my life as a trucker/photographer and how the two can can be merged. Nature calls us all.

Imperial eagle / keizerarend. What goes in,must come out :-)

In Cheyenne Wyoming tonight, delivering butter to the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in the morning. I haven't been to Wyoming for at least six months, so I was looking forward to the change of scenery, unfortunately I wasn't seeing anything that grabbed me photographically until I got to Elk Mountain, and was surprised to see a herd of Elk, at least 50 in the herd. Obviously I pulled over and took some pictures. Not the greatest light, sunset and the clouds blocked most of the light. Mostly females, and just a few young males, no large bulls, but still I was happy to see the herd.

I did get some closer pictures using a bigger lens and may post one or two of them someday.

There is something almost spiritual, and universally irresistible about being under a tree staring upwards into the canopy. Guess that's why we take so many pictures from this POV.

Finished another long day, in and out of Los Angeles, and winding down with one of my favorite young singers.

Part II of my Phoenix Oregon Golden Leaf art series. Took these while my truck was being repaired at the Peterbilt dealer.

Took this back in the spring while trucking through Indiana, just west of Indianapolis.
