Ce musée présente des peintures et des tangkas (peinture, dessin, ou tissu sur toile originaire d'Inde et caractéristique de la culture bouddhiste tibétaine). La porte d'entrée était autrefois l'entrée du Palais Royal. La porte est encadrée de deux gros lions et de deux statues, l'une représentant Hanuman le dieu-singe, et l'autre, Narsingh, l'homme-lion, avatar de Vishnu.

नरसिंह जयंती वैशाख माह की शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्दशी को मनाई जाती है। हिंदू धर्म में इस जयंती का बहुत बड़ा महत्व है क्योंकि इस दिन प्रह्लाद की भक्ति की शक्ति और अटूट आस्था को साकार करने के लिए श्री हरि विष्णु के नरसिंह रुप का प्रादुर्भाव हुआ था। यह घटना उस समय के नास्तिकों के लिए भी एक आश्चर्यचकित करने वाली स्थिति थी और यदि आज के नास्तिक भी इससे कुछ सीख ले तो समझने वाली बात है कि शुद्ध भावना और सरलता ईश्वर को अपना बना लेती है।

इस साल नरसिंह जयंती 6 मई (बुधवार) को है। पौराणिक धार्मिक मान्यताओं एवं धार्मिक ग्रंथों के अनुसार भगवान विष्णु ने इस दिन अपने भक्त प्रहलाद को बचाने के लिए दैत्यों के राजा हिरण्यकश्यप का वध करने के लिए आधे नर और आधे सिंह के रूप में नरसिंह अवतार लिया था।

आज के दिन नरसिंह गायत्री मंत्र के जाप से भागवान नरसिंह प्रसन्न होते है और अपने भक्तों की समस्त इच्छाऐं पूरी करते है और शत्रु बाधा व रोगों से मुक्ति देते है।

ॐ वज्रनखाय विद्महे तीक्ष्ण दंष्ट्राय धीमहि तन्नो नरसिंह प्रचोदयात ।
