It appears this house finch is napping :)
Captured this afternoon as the sun was about to set here in Baltimore.
One of my better iPhonescoped bird pictures. The birds on the log are: White-faced Ibis, Killdeer, Cinnamon Teal and Green-winged Teal. Taken at Estero Llano Grande State Park in Hidalgo County, Texas on April 10th, 2015.
Few of my cats have taken possession of my Table tennis table...they love the game so my fault for teaching them
On my morning walk, I found a mother mallard duck and her brood of nearly grown ducklings. As she became used to my presence she let me gradually get closer and closer to her family. Eventually she would fly off and come back while the little ones patiently awaited her return, even dozing of now and then. I never thought I'd leave teaching to become a duck nanny...
Shell and Autumn loved the new canopy bed.
"I think we could sit here and talk ALL night, don't you, Autumn?" Shell asked.
"I think so, too, Shell! The canopy is so magical! I love lace! And the coverlet- oh! It's so dainty!"
"What's this I hear about talking all night, you two?!" I laughed because little bears are always talking. "I think talking through naptime will be enough today!"
Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday!
Earlier in the year, I bought a bunch of "stuff" at the auction we frequent. There were pieces of a little canopy bed, made by The House of Miniatures that I thought was worth a try putting back together. Let me just say that miniatures in ANY sense of the word are difficult and fiddly things! But I learned a lot and managed it! Ken was terrified to see me drilling with the tiniest bit he had!
The original tiny mattress and canopy were an old and dirty fabric. I happened to have one little bit of a vintage fabric that I thought was perfect for the mattress cover, and managed to make a pillow with the remainder. The tiny coverlet here is a dainty vintage lady's handkerchief, and the canopy is a vintage doily.
(I am averaging 1 post for an hour. Ugh. AT&T sucks)

Xyla found a sunny spot on the family room floor. The sun moved away, but by then she was asleep.

A just awake Coyote shakes off some of the cobwebs in golden hour light. Point Reyes National Seashore. Saw the most Coyotes ever on this trip, but this one was the best show.

Took a chance on a 20 minute drive from home to see if the snowy owls have returned to their usual spot North of Richmond Ontario. To my surprise, there were two females present. Last year I only spotted a large male.
The snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus) is a large, white owl of the true owl family. Snowy owls are native to Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia. Males are almost all white, while females have more flecks of black plumage. Juvenile snowy owls have black feathers until they turn white. The snowy owl is a ground nester that primarily hunts rodents and waterfowl, and opportunistically eats carrion. Most owls sleep during the day and hunt at night, but the snowy owl is active during the day, especially in the summertime.
