Still practising my bird photography skills. Lots of Tui around at present...

View from 4000 ft on my way to work.

Thanks very much if you have time for a comment. I think everyone is on Twitter tonight!

The road trip continues to the North Island of New Zealand! I figure this is a pretty good and safe place to explore... so why not get out and go for it? Even though I've lived here 10 years, there's still huge parts of the two main islands I haven't seen. If you have any suggestions on the North Island (black sand beaches... weird places that tourists don't visit... spiritual places... etc), I'm all ears! I'm mostly going up there to work on an art commission around Gisborne. I'm super excited because I don't know the area very well...

Punakaiki Pancake Rocks is an interesting landscape of Limestone rock formations, surge pools, caves, and blow holes.

Awesome news, I am one of the shortlisted photographers for the New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year 2016 competition! Now all I need is a small favor from all my friends and followers :)

If you could so kindly vote for my image on the link below, the image to look for is the one posted on this post. Click on 'add image' to vote, and pick another two images! For the other two I recommend Shaun Jeffers and Mark Smith's images :) but that's up to you of course.

Oh and it wasn't an image that I have been shortlisted for, but a time-lapse! You can view the time-lapse here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRHpG7RUsy4

Two dolphins coast in the bow wave of the boat as we were going through the fjords of the South Island of New Zealand. I've only swum with wild dolphins once... that was in Hawaii. We swam out about a mile into the ocean where we saw them jumping and having fun... I swam and dove with them for about an hour... They were all totally peaceful and I never felt nervous, even though I was in awe. One of them was even pregnant... was hoping to see it give birth or something! But that didn't happen... but it would have been awesome to see that in the wild.

Akaroa - a small town in NZ's South Island, settled by the French, still retains its French flavour and many of the old, original buildings are still inevidence. A favourite stop on the cruise ship calendar where excursions to Christchurch and surrounds are not too far away for a days outing. Glorious views can be seen from the many roads traversing the hills.

Close up of a tiny and very endearing bird...................this is not the same individual of my previous photos - I took this one down by the lake

Taken just after a skiff of snow had covered the tops. It was actually a really nice day and I'm not entirely sure a photo does it justice.
