Our trees have noticed the shorter days and are pulling in the chlorophyll now. Seen on a walk today in our area. Hope you are staying well!

A photo taken during our family tour of the South Island last month. Vivid turquoise water of the Hokitika River rushes through a magnificent granite gorge lined with native bush.

I kept this fence for Friday here. Seen on the same raining frozen trip to work as my other posts lately. Have a good weekend when you get there!

I didn't take this,it was just sent over to me by my son who is in NZ at the moment and this was his camp last night,totally awesome! Mt Cook NP near the Tasman glacier

The Tongariro Crossing NZ

Located on State Highway 1 near Wharanui, Kaikoura. It was severely damaged during the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake.

One of the wettest places on Earth with an annual rainfall of 252 inches or 21 feet or 6.4 meters... however you measure it, it's a lot!

POEM - SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS

What though the radiance

which was once so bright

Be now for ever taken from my sight,

Though nothing can bring back the hour

Of splendour in the grass,

of glory in the flower,

We will grieve not, rather find

Strength in what remains behind;

In the primal sympathy

Which having been must ever be;

In the soothing thoughts that spring

Out of human suffering;

In the faith that looks through death,

In years that bring the philosophic mind.

A colourful young Tui takes a very brief pause from feeding on Pride of Madeira (Echium candicans or Echium fastuosum) in the Victoria Esplanade, Palmerston North.

Pancake Rocks near Punakaiki New Zealand

This is where I discovered my "Happy place"

Another shot from yesterday's visit to see the cherry blossoms at IPU New Zealand. This shot is not quite in focus but nonetheless I quite like how the bird is positioned in amongst the cherry blossoms.

At an unnamed small lake near Twizel

This is taken on the west coast of New Zealand. i have my lee 10 stop filter on, and the sunset is doing its magic :)

This how I saw this lake in a low light morning (version 3)

Beautiful waterfalls in typical NZ bush setting with tree ferns

Tui are boisterous, medium-sized, common and widespread bird of forest and suburbia – unless you live in Canterbury. They look black from a distance, but in good light tui have a blue, green and bronze iridescent sheen, and distinctive white throat tufts (poi). They are usually very vocal, with a complicated mix of tuneful notes interspersed with coughs, grunts and wheezes. In flight, their bodies slant with the head higher than the tail, and their noisy whirring flight is interspersed with short glides. nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/tui

I've often driven past this distant scene on the road between Cheltenham and Kimbolton and looked at this impressive tree and the little shed beneath. Today the scene was set and even the sheep behaved positioning themselves nicely in the image.
