Being the only high point in the hamlet, I wonder if they'd let me climb up to that soccer ball?
But would it fry my brain?
"The North Warning System (NWS) is a joint United States and Canadian early-warning radar system for the atmospheric air defense of North America. It provides surveillance of airspace from potential incursions or attacks from across North America's polar region. It replaced the Distant Early Warning Line system in the late 1980s."

Brand new SW1001 #3 passes by the home made gantry crane that is having a wheel set removed/replaced.
Note the trucks that are used under the crane, they came from a diesel that the Northwestern Steel and Wire plant has scrapped.
My neighbor, not a big fan of snakes, came across this one while gardening. She consulted me for an ID. After a few frames, it zoomed off to the nearby lake.

The registration mark affixed to this NWS Volvo Olympian, seen on training duties close to the Citybus depot in Chai Wan, originally belonged to a coach-seated Metrobus from CMB's MC class, which was itself cascaded for use as a training bus in the early New World First era. BV 2048 continues to outlive the vehicles it graces, as the Volvo, formerly VA59 in the operational fleet and registered HP 7236 was retired just under 4 months after this shot was taken and the registration transferred to a newer Trident.

The Rockford NMRA group arranged a tour of the steam operations at the North Western Steel & Wire mill in Sterling, Ill., in 1977.
The mill had the steam shop all cleaned up and open for us to look around.
The NMRA tour of the North Western Steel & Wire mill that operated steam in 1977 allowed us to get photos of the "dead" line, including these tenders that we have no idea why they still existed.
