The market is making strong gains with support from infra, banks, oil & gas and auto stocks. The Sensex is up 237.21 points or 0.9 percent at 27800.64, and the Nifty is up 66.85 points or 0.8 percent at 8441.90. About 1653 shares have advanced, 698 shares declined, and 115 shares are unchanged. Cipla, HUL, HDFC, Hero Motocorp and NTPC are top gainers while Sun Pharma, TCS and Coal India are among losers in the Sensex.

The #Nifty remained below 8900 level, down 17.10 points at 8879.60 ahead of GDP data due later today. #Equity benchmarks continued to consolidate in early trade Wednesday after investors digested third quarter earnings. The 30-share #BSE #Sensex was up 35.23 points at 28374.54 and the 50-share #NSE #Nifty gained 12.50 points at 8804.80. Adani Ports, ITC, Infosys, Larsen & Toubro, ONGC, Tech Mahindra and Grasim were early gainers while Tata Motors tanked 7.5 percent after CLSA downgraded the stock to sell from buy due to weak earnings. NTPC, Sun Pharma, Maruti Suzuki, Dr Reddy's Labs and BHEL were other losers. The Indian rupee has opened flat at 66.92 per dollar against previous close of 66.93.

Opening Bell : In Indian Equity Market, the Sensex is up 132.07 points or 0.5 percent at 28137.44, and the Nifty up 49.25 points or 0.6 percent at 8673.30.
