Showing dead DAF SB220's in Redcar depot.

Ex Arriva Yorkshire Sister's Alexander DAF's, R460 KWT/R459 KWT are seen next to each other both loosing front lights. The original plan was that this vehicle type were to stay on at Redcar but a re-think at the depot meant that they are to all be withdrawn rather than the prestiges but the remaining prestitiges will stay in service.

However some Alexander DAF SB220's are still in font line service

My freshly made paperbus is one of Redcar's brand new Streetlite's for " Sapphire" service X3/X3A/X4 that is a replica of registration number NK64 EFC.

The paint I used was acrylic, dark and light blue.

Branding was done on my computer using Paint software.

This is the first model I have made that has been painted in "Sapphire" livery.

It is sat at my similar version of Redcar depot. With the blue shed in the background.

Finished panels mounted in pine door. The most challenging part of the construction was the swirly rectangular central panels (spectrum baroque)...one mistake...and it's all over!

Temsa's have started to appear almost regularly on the 22 after years of old Darts and Prestige's running the route often at the expense of my local 81 route in Guisborough that often gets V reg Volvo B10BLE's instead of these Temsa's.

Prestiges and Darts were withdrawn recently at Redcar depot.

This is another Temsa to receive a repaint and changes to it's fan system.

Steeped in history

The Samuel Murrell House eight miles northeast of Bowling Green on U.S. 31-W has once again been recognized as a historical site. Already on the National Register of Historical Places the house recently was added to the Kentucky Historical Highway Marker Program. The markee at the right of the picture specifies that the house, built in 1841 by Murrell was a well known inn and stagecoach stop on the Louisville-Nashville Road until the L & N Railroad was completed in 1859. The property once belonged to Susannah Henry Madison, wife of General Thomas Madison and sister of Patrick Henry.

Withdrawn Prestige 4042 is in the dead corner of Redcar depot.

Yellow paint has been applied, I believe Arriva do this so that if sold to another company then they will be unable to ride around in Arriva Livery.

Mount Desert Island, Maine - February 2014

Brookhaven National Laboratory is developing a new Northeast Solar Energy Research Center (NSERC) on its campus that will serve as a solar energy research and test facility for the solar industry. The NSERC will include laboratories for standardized testing in accordance with industry standards, along with a solar PV research array for field testing existing or innovative new technologies under actual northeastern weather conditions.

The NSERC will also include access to unique high-resolution data sets from the 32MW Long Island Solar Farm located at Brookhaven.

"Over the years, Northeast Harbor, Maine, has become famous as much for its summertime residents as it has for its beautiful and protected harbor full of exclusive yachts and sailing vessels. You may be surprised to hear that it is actually not an official township by itself but rather part of the municipality of Mount Desert which covers 25,699 acres and has an approximate population of 2,053 (per the year 2010 census). It is located on the southern end of Mount Desert Island on the western side of the entrance to Somes Sound."

Stockton's newest bus 1512 was used for the United Enthusiasts Club AGM on the 7th June at Ashington Depot with Alex at the wheel. Here we were waiting outside the gates of Stockton Depot to be picked up. It was a very pleasant bus to ride on this.

This is to be the intended spare Sapphire vehicle for route 5. I was told that this will not be getting a re-paint but should gain leather seats.

At the bottom of the canyon, Fossil Springs Trail meets Mail Trail. Mail Trail heads northeast into the dry part of the canyon where water is rarely found. Because Mail Trail is a rarely used wilderness trail, it is difficult to navigate. Hikers may find themselves lost if they miss this junction and wander up the canyon.

Fossil Springs Trail descends approximately 1400' over 4 miles to the springs for which Fossil Springs Wilderness was named. The trail starts off wide and smooth, but becomes progressively rockier as it winds its way down into the canyon. At approximately 4 miles in, a short, marked side trail leads off to the first springs source, where many hikers refill their water bottles. There are a few campsites near the creek (camp at least 100' from the creek) for about a quarter mile. The last half mile of the trail skirts along a steep-walled, narrow section of the canyon, offering no camping or access to the creek. The trail reaches the old Fossil Creek Dam at 4.75 miles, where the trail ends and meets Flume Trail.

Camping is prohibited at and below the Fossil Creek Dam for several miles down the canyon. The trail is in the Fossil Creek Wilderness. Bikes and mechanized vehicles are prohibited. There is no creek access for the first four miles of this trail. The trail is very exposed and extremely hot in the warmer months. Hikers should carry at least four quarts of water. The trail is very rocky. Hiking shoes or boots are strongly recommended.

Fossil Creek is one of two Wild and Scenic rivers in Arizona. A series of springs gush 20,000 gallons a minute year-round at the bottom of a 1,600 foot deep canyon, creating a lush riparian oasis rich with life. Over the years these calcium laden waters have laid down huge deposits of a type of limestone called travertine, creating deep pools for miles along the creek. The Wilderness and surrounding area are on the Tonto and Coconino National Forests, and are managed by the Coconino National Forest.

During the spring-summer season, camping is prohibited and a reserved parking permit is required to park at the trailhead. See Fossil Springs Trail and Fossil Creek on the USFS Coconino National Forest website for maps, regulations, permit reservations, and other details.

The forecast was for a very active aurora tonight, so I went to Cleary Summit (a pass in the White Mountains northeast of Fairbanks.

While the forecast wasn't especially accurate, this is a good place to get a view with the higher altitude and a good view to the northeast.

Stockton depot Pulsar seen preparing to work an X5 to Loftus and then onwards to Middlesbrough and via Guisborough as a 5.

As from the 16th February 2014 this route will change in it's current form and will no longer serve Guisborough but will divert via Saltburn and Redcar to Middlesbrough.

The bit from Whitby to Loftus will be renumbered 4 and then from Loftus will be the X4 to Redcar and Middlesbrough, presumably to be ran by Redcar depot.

It's a shame that I will no longer be able to use this route to Whitby as it takes in some lovely sights like Sandsend and I can't remember a time when this route didn't run to Guisborough whether it was a 256 or X56 when I was younger to the present day 5/X5.

Transferred from Arriva NorthWest where it was used in Liverpool 'Airlink 500' Citycentre to Liverpool Airport. Arriva NE and Durham depot then received it and now

From a slide dated May, 1983 - An MBTA F40 pushes a train of Pullman Standard push-pull cars on Amtrak's busy Northeast Corridor. Note the concrete ties. Today this line is electrfied for Amtrak trains but the commuter trains still use diesel. Thi line was once owned by the New Haven RR which called it the Shoreline. In 1983 the South Side commuter trains were operated by the Boston and Maine RR under contract to the MBTA. I have no notes for this slide, my guess for a station name is Mansfield, Mass.

A rear view of NK64 EFC and showing off it's rear branding.

Getting this branding on the back of here was no easy task, making sure that all the map and text would fit on together and making sure that the text was the correct size and then finally I had to glue the very small pieces of paper on it was difficult.

It is preparing to go into the shed and is sitting next to Temsa Avenue, paperbus (YJ10 DFP) that is receiving maintenance.
