Het Nationaal Militair Museum (NMM) in Soest is een museum waarin aandacht wordt besteed aan de betekenis van de Nederlandse krijgsmacht in verleden, heden en toekomst met extra aandacht voor de collecties van land- en luchtmacht, afkomstig van het Legermuseum uit Delft en het Militaire Luchtvaartmuseum uit Soesterberg, die in het NMM zijn samengevoegd. Het NMM is ondergebracht in de Stichting Defensie Musea (SDM).
HMS Ajax 1809-1864 a 74 gun ship.
HMS Bulldog 1845-1865 A steam powered paddle sloop. She ran aground in 1865 whilst attacking Haiti as part of a punitive raid against revolutionaries who had seized the British consulate. Unable to get her off of the reef, the British blew her up.
These hats and crocheted beards (LOL) were donated by a family. The kids will use them when acting, recording stories, etc. During the lesson today they wanted to try the items on and wear them...so quick change and back to seats. Big smiles, energy. Pic at the end of the hour. :)
Unfortunately there are no actual photographs of the notorious pirate known as Blackbeard, as there weren't any cameras around in his day.
But no matter because, hey, everyone will recognise him from this!
