After spending some time scouting The Queen's Garden Loop Trail on my 2nd day, I returned later that evening and ran across this unique looking tree and it reminded me of the photos i've seen of the old gnarled tree in Schulman Grove in the Bristlecone Forest, which still sits on my bucket list. This one turned out a bit grainy even though I used some light panels and ISO 1600 to minimize the noise but I thought it still looked interesting. I still have a lot to learn and this is part of the road to MW nirvana which still eludes me. I suspect it's the fact that I have a crop sensor camera when I really should be using a Full Frame for this kind of photography, or it could be operator malfunction and inexperience. I probably won't know until I upgrade, I'm holding out for the 6D Mrk II which should be out spring 2016. :)

Had a great time chasing Eastern Sierra fall colors this weekend while instructing a great group of folks in the Eastern Sierras Fall Colors Workshop.
I couldn't post one of those fall shots until I get this one out of the hopper.
When mother nature puts on a show, she goes all out. If there was ever a time that I subconsciously questioned why I sit out in the dark in the freezing cold hoping for visual nirvana hoping to catch Mother Nature present her finest.
All the while that little devil on my shoulder prodding, whispering "your going to get skunked "again" Well I have two words for that little guy now...Suck It!!! LOL.

The fountain square in Nice is one of the favorite places for tourists and local inhabitants especially in the summer, when everyone is tired of the hot weather. For the children it is a kind of amusement park and opportunity to get fun in the cool splashes of water.

The interplay between sun, water and rock was just incredible to witness.
I had a lucky shot tonight, there was a magnificent bird in the sky, I believe it's a black kite. Anyway I captured the moment and then added to it some light to represent the state of happiness it gave me. Hope it delivers the same feelings to you too. 😍
Using The Photographer’s Ephemeris and Photopills, I discovered this alignment possibility on the early morning of July 4th. The rest was up to luck, and thankfully fair weather prevailed!

I spotted the sky may be perfect for a sunset, driving back from a photoshoot with June, which was great fun. There was this small slot below the clouds, and as expected the sun burst through almost on the horizon, firing up the clouds. All in all a magical few hours with my new camera. It was a pity I didn't take my widest angle lens, but I still had a great time. Nirvana is by Tom Waits.
