New Quay was once a flourishing shipbuilding centre and fishing port. The miles of secluded coves around New Quay provided ideal hiding places in the less salubrious but probably more profitable trade of smuggling spirits and tobacco.
Today the small local fishing and pleasure craft still come and go in the sheltered bay. New Quay’s beaches extend in a golden arc around the bay and are ideal for relaxing and strolling by the sea. Enjoy a walk along the front to the end of the Quay and watch the boats sail by. Or sit in one of the cafes overlooking the harbour and see the dolphins
As a husband I know better than to give my wife Kitchen utensils and gardening supplies as gifts on special occasions. A lesson learned the hard way. However for my wife to give me a small battery operated hand tool for Christmas, perfect. The photo is 70mm left to right. New Holland (Nieuw-Holland) was the name given to Australia in 1644 by Abel Tasman (after whom Tasmania is named). The name stuck for the western part of the continent (James Cook named the eastern part New South Wales) until Matthew Flinders suggested "Australia" (from Terra Australis, the great south land) for the whole continent, after he circumnavigated it in 1802-3.

The sun has pretty much disappeared behind the trees as SAHW knocks off the last few times to Palestine.
Though it is a magnificent modern structure and presents itself well I had quite a difficult time trying to find an angle which was appealing. Exasperated I stepped back to get a shot of the highway and when I turned around my shot was right before me.
It's a New Year and okay to celebrate, foks, just as long as you do it safely...like this guy. ;-)

Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park, New Zealand. Fiordland National Park is the largest of the 14 national parks in New Zealand, and a major part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. The southern ranges of the Southern Alps cover most of Fiordland National Park and combined with the deep glacier-carved valleys present a highly inaccessible landscape. Fiordland National Park contains the majority of the largest area of unmodified vegetation in New Zealand.
The New Forest pony is a hardy breed native to the New Forest area of England, known for its gentle temperament and sure-footedness. These semi-feral ponies are privately owned by local "commoners" and roam freely in the New Forest, but are rounded up annually for health checks. They can be any color except for piebald, skewbald, spotted, or blue-eyed cream, and have a maximum height of 148 cm.
The history of ponies in the New Forest dates back to at least 1016, and outside breeds like Welsh and Thoroughbred have been introduced over the centuries to improve the bloodline.
