This is a revenge shot. I was in New York a few years ago and tried to get this image. Everything was wrong. It was too crowded, my battery was dead, it was raining fairly hard, the family was upset with me and they wanted to get out of the rain, a goat was chewing on my pantleg, I think a clown was throwing bowling pins at me. Just a fail. I was actually very surprised when my Wife said she wanted to go to New York again. The second she said that, this image was in my mind. This time I was staying in a hotel just a few blocks away, so the family could stay in the hotel. Though, my father-in-law Tom and my Son, Wilson, did end up coming with me, but they have infinite patience. There was no rain, and we went late on purpose to cut down (a little) on the crowds. It turned out just like I wanted. Let me know what you think.
The New Forest National Park, created in in 2005, is one of the largest remaining tract of unenclosed pasture, heathland and forest in Southern England. The landscape is shaped by grazing cattle, ponies, donkeys and deer.
On the coldest days, you can find solitude here (I'm very thankful for my cold-weather gear).
Lake ice is starting to re-form after our recent warm spell. How much forms in the winter that we have left, we can only guess.
We often think of the Lake as a wilderness immediately next to our urban sprawl. It's not really a wilderness though. The Lake has been totally messed up multiple times, since we arrived. Better days for all of us will involve taking good care of our lakes.
