lively scenes of the street. Yet the sun, in all its merciless glory, did press upon me so exceedingly that I feared my very frame might dissolve into the dust of the pavement. At length, compelled by necessity, I sought sanctuary within a modest café, wherein the coolness of the air, together with a glass of iced coffee and a portion of sweet bread, did much restore both my spirits and my strength. And it was in that moment of repose that my eye, wandering idly to the opposite window, fell upon a lady of perhaps fifty years, whose quiet composure lent an air of singular dignity to her seat.

Our new studio artist painting in a minimalist style, in fact just the bear necessities.

Ted was found in suspicious circumstances face down in the car park on the morning of 15th February 2024.

The local community are being urged not to jump to any conclusions but there's speculation that he simply overdid things sharing the love on a Valentine's Day teddy bears picnic.

Mount Washington Tavern, an important stop for early travelers on the National Road.]]

On a hillside adjacent to the battlefield and within the boundaries of the park is Mount Washington Tavern, a classic example of the many inns once lining the [[National Road]], the United States' first federally funded highway.

The land on which the tavern was built was originally owned by George Washington. In 1770 he purchased the site on which he had commanded his first battle. Around the 1830s, Judge Nathanial Ewing of Uniontown constructed the tavern. James Sampey acquired the tavern in 1840. It was operated by his family until the [[railroad]] construction boom caused the National Road to decline in popularity, rendering the inn unprofitable. In 1855, it was sold to the Fazenbaker family. They used it as a private home for the next 75 years, until the Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania purchased the property in 1932. In 1961 the National Park Service purchased the property from the state, making the building a part of Fort Necessity. The Mount Washington Tavern demonstrates the standard features of an early American tavern, including a simple barroom that served as a gathering place, a more refined parlor that was used for relaxation, and bedrooms in which numerous people would crowd to catch up on sleep.

I find it refreshing to render a photo in B&W once in a while, in particular street shots.

Healing is in the Word

Yeshua is the same yesterday today and forever

Two main scriptures to meditate on

Isaiah 53:1-5) Matthew 8:16,17) Yeshua bore our sins, and He bore our sicknesses and infirmities.

Pray for Ephesians 1:17 as it's the revelation of His Word that brings about personal healing, as we meditate in Ish 53:4,5) and Matt 8:16,17) and the Spirit of God reveals to us that Yeshua bore this sickness and we begin to believe His report, and we enjoy this benefit. Also if the sick condition is caused by a spirit, the spirit must be first cast out to experience healing. Always go back to the Word of God and meditate day and night in it. His Word is health to all our flesh. A prophetic word by Yeshua/Jesus Luke 13:32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Remember one day is as a thousand years with the LORD and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. So Yeshua speaking in a prophetic sense, will be doing cures-(healings) for 2000 years--2 days, and on the third day He will set up His throne in Jerusalem.

John Muir was right when he said Wilderness is a necessity. Its food for the soul.

I've had an external flash (that I could bounce off the ceiling) for some time now, but it wasn't until I needed to capture Batman sleeping in the "dead bug" position, on the kitchen counter, that I gave it a try.

Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities. At least, this is how the film "Jungle Book" presents it. When it comes to photography, I found that older cameras and lenses can do an excellent job. A 10 Mega Pixel camera (such as this one, Leica M8) won't produce the resolution newer cameras have, but it is well capable of getting a visual message or an emotional content across. It really depends on what we want. Lenses have been brilliant for the last five or more decades (this one is over 60 years old, Elmar 90/4). In other words, the bare necessities can be had for comparatively little money. As the song, mentioned in the beginning, has it - "Forget about your worries and your strife", just pick up some second-hand gear and take pictures.

Seeing this trio of neighboring stores makes me happy every time I visit Kerrisdale. There are also two stationery stores on the next block--another weakness of mine. So much wrong in the world--but a lot right in this little neighborhood

Merry Christmas, Flickr friends!

It's pretty special to watch a super nice sunrise veiled by medium density fog. I've only been fortunate to witness it twice and both times I had to fight the urge to just stand there and soak it all in instead of pulling out the camera gear. Even though I almost always end up breaking out the camera I often find myself conflicted about this choice. In the end I don't think there is a wrong or right way to go about it. To be sure I've seen many more sunrises while surrounded by spectacular natural beauty then I would have if I weren't a photographer. What's equally certain, though, is that I have missed truly experiencing some wonderful displays of light because I was behind the camera. Anyone else feel this way?

It's certainly cold enough for Polar Bears to survive in our current North Wales climate. This was Mid Afternoon when sunny and the air temperature was still -1.5C! A further real snow dusting too!

In keeping warm, I spontaneously started singing some of the lyrics from that classic song in the Disney Film 'Jungle Book' - 'The Bare Necessities'!

Aperture Academy Photography Workshops

Hello Fellow Flickerites! I know it's been awhile since I've posted...life with Aperture Academy has me busier into the business side of photography than I could have ever imagined. Just wait until you see what we have coming in 2012!

I'm just returning from three weeks in Alaska. The first week was our Aperture Academy Inside Passage Workshop, then I headed up to the Alaskan Interior for some personal shooting.
