And I wish to All happy vacation. :)

Testing the very functional Nokia N95.

I picked up this full-size Dodge Charger to take a drive around the San Francisco Bay Area for a day. I really liked it -- unsurprisingly roomy, decent engine, surprisingly manoeuvrable (see the front wheels all the way at the nose) and, I think, a good-looking car. Plus, it had Sirius (satellite radio), so I spent much of the drive listening to OutQ, the gay radio station, which seemed to be doing a live broadcast about Halloween costumes in New Orleans. Not exactly radio material, methinks, so after that it was time for a bit of Wagner.

I had an absolutely lovely drive, from SoMa over to Lombard Street (the Crookedest Street in the World), then over the Golden Gate, up to Mount Tamalpais, round to Fairfax, down to San Rafael, over to Richmond, then Oakland, then back over the Bay Bridge to SoMa. And in the evening, my friend Abe and I headed out to the Melting Pot in San Mateo. Mmm, Melting Pot.

Pluses: leg room, engine, radio, looks

Minuses: visibility, especially in the back seats, size in cities

The winter is a dark time here in Norway, but it allows for incredible colors playing in the sky at morning and in the evening. Shot with my Nokia N95.

Plumley West 2-1-95 Bank Holiday Monday The first set of empties had gone back at 11:15 and at 11:40 the 2nd loaded train turned up with 37107+686 on 12 loaded ICI hoppers from Tunstead for Northwich seen passing Plumley West signalbox. TAKEN FROM TREE

Peak Forest 23-4-95 (SUN) 37426+026 had just worked the morning empty ICI hoppers from Northwich to Tunstead and were stabled waiting for the afternoon trip unusually in the Long Sidings opposite the box but the yard looks a little congested.59201 was waiting a path back to Ferrrybridge at 15:00 and 60080,45,89 and 61 were towed round to Buxton shed by 31190 at 12:30

Plumley 2-1-95 Bank Holiday Monday 37417+066 had worked the first loaded train to Northwich that morning passing Ashley at 09:40 on 24 loaded ICI hoppers. They are seen on the return with 37066 leading 417 on 34 empty ICI hoppers thrashing through Plumley

Plumley West 26-2-95 (SUN) 37509+405 pass on the Sunday morning loaded ICI hopper train from Tunstead for Northwich. They had been diverted via the former LNWR route from Buxton to Stockport due to engineering work at New Mills and meant the sun was further round when they passed at 12:30. TAKEN FROM TREE AND THE ONLY TIME I HAD ROBERT STOOD NEXT TO ME!

New Mills South Junction 2-1-95 Bank Holiday Monday 37686+107 return to Tunstead on the 2nd train of the day from Northwich on 22 empty ICI hoppers. 066+417 had worked the first train back with 34 empties.

Peak Forest 26-2-95 (SUN) 37509+405 have just pulled the train out of Tunstead all the way up the loop to Peak to drop the TP off and now 37503 will head for Buxton via Ashwood Dale on the Sunday morning loaded ICI hopper service diverted via the former LNWR route to Stockport due to engineering work. Dove Holes tunnel is well known for its drainage problems and the track between Peak and Great Rocks also has problems with water. The sidings on the right have water running down them but the loop on the left has water half-way up the rails running down towards Great Rocks

Great Rocks Junction 12-2-95 (SUN) I had just taken a shot off the bridge and then ran down here for a 2nd attempt but the trees had ruined it back in '95 never mind what it's like now. 37509 has just drawn out of the loop at Great Rocks Junction on the Sunday morning loaded ICI hopper service from Tunstead to Northwich routed via Ashwood Dale to Buxton where the train will reverse into the station before taking the steeply graded former LNWR route to Stockport. 37108+066 were on the other end and would have to bank 509 out of Buxton
