The 13.28 service from Mytholmroyd to Manchester Victoria leaves on time with a three coach (plus a single 153) unit of Class 158. Probably about half the units on the Calder Valley line have been repainted in Arriva Northern Railways white and blue livery, the rest remaining in the old Serco-Abellio purple colours. None of the Pacers are to be repainted in view of their short expected working life. (Originally they were to be all withdrawn by the end of 2018, but that won't happen).

Arriving at Mytholmroyd on the 10.15 for Leeds is Class 158 No. 158759. The old station building on the right is going to be refurbished and preserved.
An unidentified Class 47 heads away from Mytholmroyd with 7M23 Jarrow to Stanlow empty tanks. 10/6/87. Breaks the rules this, being head-on, but there was no option from this bridge when the sun was out. You could go out wide to the left when it was cloudy but I seldom went to the spot under those conditions.
It looks as though this narrow boat has had its hull repainted ready for the summer. Not sure how they got it out of the water!
Walking into Hebden today I spotted several pet graves I've not noticed before, just off the tow path on some wasteland. I guess they're hidden in the undergrowth most year-round.
At Mytholmroyd. This was the scene of disasterous flooding a couple of years ago. The river rose to just under the top of the arch you can see in the photograph, flooding the village and many houses and shops. Some were so badly damaged, they had to be demolised.
Class 101, 51540/51510, leaves the Mytholmroyd station stop while forming the 14:45 Hebden Bridge to Leeds "turn-back" service. 30/10/88. Presumably units were no longer identified to a region by a pre-fix by this time - ie. no "E" on this set.
Racing through Mytholmroyd in West Yorkshire is a fast train for Leeds comprising Sprinter No. 150277.

Running in to Mytholmroyd past one of the new signals that have just been switched on during the Great North Rail project over the weekend are the Lindsey empties headed by Colas Class 70 No. 70802.
"A good fire" a spectator observed as this former clog factory burned. It was under threat of demolition with a planning application in to demolish and replace with 11 houses. Sited on the river Calder it is / was both a substantial and dramatic building. A great loss to the industrial heritage of the north.
