This is a version of Turndust, an artist's book project I am currently working on. This is an early stage 'storyboard' version. I've posted it because I am interested in seing if I can use community on Flickr to add something to the design process. What do you think of it? What could be improved? What's good? What does it make you think about?
I'm planning to develop the book for screenprint in one or two colours with hand colouring in watercolour, so each book will be a little different, although still part of an edition. I plan to include new versions and working-up on Flickr as I go along.
Since this book is intended as a narrative, it's best read from beginning to end. I recommend looking at the set.
Thanks for any comments.

The Great Gatsby
Chapter 5
“Come here QUICK!” cried Daisy at the window.
The rain was still falling, but the darkness had parted in the west, and there was a pink and golden billow of foamy clouds above the sea.
“Look at that,” she whispered, and then after a moment: “I’d like to just get one of those pink clouds and put you in it and push you around.”
I tried to go then, but they wouldn’t hear of it; perhaps my presence made them feel more satisfactorily alone.
One of my favourite books ever.
I love the characters, the story and how it is told.
Reference monographs and guide books on Romanesque art: Basque Country, Spain, England, France, Switzerland
The group of books on Romanesque art to the left of this pictures are some 40 years old and have been produced in French by a Swiss publisher in a collection called Zodiaque.
These monographs are by countries or by historic provinces and I have from left to right: The Basque Country (which is limited to Spain only), England (two volumes) and Switzerland: these are my preferred reference books on the subject.
The smaller book on Romanesque art in France is an overview and therefore will have missed some of the "lesser" monuments and so is the general book on (European) Romanesque. The most recent guide book on the subject is the "Guia del Romanico" for Spain bought a few years ago, but again it cannot satisfy the in-depth curiosity of the visitor who wants to imbibe thoroughly in the art of each province: it remains nevertheless the only serious guide on this subject for the whole of Spain.

When I was modeling, I studied every possible aspect about the past top models, as well as the current successful ones. Jean Shimpton turned out to be my favorite and remains so to this day as the crème e la cream of models.
I chose not to pursue a career in that field, but kept this book, which I had found in a vintage book shop in New York.
I forgot I had it and by chance found it today. I thumbed through it and, you know, she is, to me, still the most beautiful and possessed the greatest talent.
The book looks very good for its age, especially since I carried it around on a velvet pillow. Ha!

The Irish Georgian Society A Celebration
Celebrating the first fifty years of the Irish Georgian Society, this sumptuously illustrated volume recounts the Society’s beginnings in 1958 and the success it has since achieved through its dedication to the preservation of Ireland’s historic buildings. Founded by the Hon. Desmond Guinness and his wife, the late Mariga, the Irish Georgian Society was set up to campaign against the destruction of Ireland’s architectural heritage, and to promote what was then an under-appreciated aspect of Ireland’s history and cultural identity.

After organizing my families stuff in our storage unit recently, I came across boxes & boxes of my childhood books that my mother had saved. While I was growing up reading was really encouraged and for holidays and birthdays I often got books from my parents as gifts.
Some of the Babar and Dr. Suess books I pulled out of the boxes. I have a a lot more books from the Dr. Suess "I Can Read" library series. I plan on doing a lot of scanning in the coming months!
