An ganz vielen Häusern war meist eine kleine Maria aufgestellt und mit Blumen dekoriert. Hat mir gut gefallen.

Dear All
I am asking Sue or Steve to forward this email to you as my ISP email company (Orange) refuses to allow me to send to more than 5 or 6 people.
Voles & The Hon Withers
What a day. Back at last at one of The Voles favourite sites, the Best Kept Secret in Bedfordshire, Duck End NR there was an amazing turnout (18 I was
told) all 4 Daves, Jock and Lord Willis included. Welcome to our new lady from Maulden whose name I think was Joyce.
The weather was OK, just right really for raking and stacking, a nice cool breeze, a bit of sun in between a few clouds and a few spots of rain.
I could see that with 17 voles and me there would be a fight for the wooden rakes or 4 prong forks so I thought my time was better spent in my normal role, sitting around watching. As it happened that was a good and productive decision and from time to time a Vole here and a Vole there brought me titbits, a frog here a toad there, not to forget the Harvest Mouse's nest, all illustrated in the attached snaps. I took loads and you can see these on my flickr pages see www.flickr.com/photos/pitzys_pyx/14896192201/in/photostream/ (right arrow back to start snaps at www.flickr.com/photos/pitzys_pyx/14713238679/ ).
While Steve and the Blue Mower clacked along the meadow, followed by the Voles with rakes and forks young Malcolm (back from his hols) started to strim the highways and byways of the reserve, an unseen hero who worked alone the whole day long and tidied a large part of the reserve. He follows in the honourable strimming steps of that magnificent Old Vole TWF Buxton.
Hopefully the snaps will add to Jane's excellent photos sent previously and give you and all the absent Voles a good idea of what went on yesterday.
Wildlife was prolific, despite the meadow being obliterated for another Summer. There were rumours of Common Lizards, Pheasants (well a few eggs) and there were Buzzards overhead.
Catering has already been mentioned but I must add my personal thanks to:
John & Audrey for an excellent hotpot, poached pears and custard plus mugs of tea.
Malcolm for the great buns although I have to say by the time I had got to first break Moffat & Squire had scoffed all but one which I decided should be saved for TWF. I had to rap Hotrod's knuckles to stop him nicking it too.
I cannot think of anything else to say but I am still enraged that CBC has had the nerve to refuse TWF of a "Blue Badge".
Take care and have a great week.
See you at Ruxox next Tuesday?
Cheers
JP
PS I kept muttering/snitching to Raven and Withers what a fine job Willis had done strimming so you should get you gold star next week.
