our weather has been bleak: cold, dark, and rainy. i love sun and the light it provides, yet i try to find beauty everywhere, including the muted tones of a cloudy day. this exploration expands both my photography and my heart.
ps: i considered a 90-degree flip for this image, as it looks like a butterfly. alternatively, you can simply tilt your head. :)

Taken @ Frontenac Park. This was taken one week after the last photo of Big Salmon lake. The colors are more muted and the light was fading. But the sky was awesome!
Bad timing with moving clouds muted the light on this view of NTV-4 at Narrowsburg NY on 18 June 1989, with NYS&W B40-8 No. 4006 in the lead.
I photographed the Torre Velasca from the roof of the Duomo di Milano on a grey morning, with soft light filtering through the overcast sky. The image isolates the tower in color against a black-and-white cityscape, emphasizing its cantilevered top and angled supports. From this elevated vantage point, the contrast between postwar modernism and Milan’s historic architecture becomes even more pronounced.
The Rose-breasted Grosbeak was not muted in his singing, but the softly coloured bib, the few white feathers in the black Head and the speckled plummage down the sides make me believe this one is a first year male, and on his way to gaining those rich colours of the adult male.
