Mutant, the ostrich, often lays an egg. The animal keepers say that she lacks the maternal instincts that would bring the baby to the point of hatching, as she seldom tends the eggs she lays. There will probably be no baby ostriches for her!

On the way back from my bike ride I stopped off at a nearby farmers market.

They had these over-sized strawberries for sale. Normally I avoid the mutant giant berries because they just don't have the flavor of the smaller types.

But they looked like fine targets so I bought a basket.

I tried several times and all of the shots went OK. But I thought this one was just a little better. That silly strawberry is almost three inches tall.

The bike ride was interesting.

In Camarillo there was a nice fog that was pretty chilly so I dressed up with a jacket. For the rest of the ride, every time I got higher, it got clear and sunny and I would un-zip my jacket.

Then I would descend and it would get foggy and cold again.

Up and down with the zipper doesn't happen here much.

Cheers.

Mutant, the female ostrich, stands by as the zebra eats hay. In reality, she was probably watching what the male ostrich was doing!
