When she gets tired of shrieking Allahs name ..
And the day goes without alms to the Lord of all good things she complains ..
Her husband is bedridden does not work only helps create children..that with her begging she has to sustain ...in the heat and heavy rains ..
Her life enslaved manacled to rusty lifes chains her belly is growing another child on the threshhold peeping through the wombs window pane ..
Another mouth to feed nothing much to gain ..
Producing kids even in adversity among Muslims a priority remains ...
Nothing else but more pain left to attain ...no elders to guide her she is uneducated no skills ..a broken heart a useless brain ..

This has become one of my favourite bridal portraits. I had the distinct pleasure of photographing a Muslim wedding, and this simple window light portrait resulted.
Teaching his son how to read Qur'an.
"The Holy Qur’an is the book given to us by the Creator of the Universe, Allah (swt)"
I took this picture at a Sufi shaykh`s house in Dongxiang county in Gansu. I guess it is a good example of Sino-Muslim cultural syncretism.

The larger immigration of Muslims to Scotland is relatively recent. The bulk of Muslims in Scotland come from families who immigrated during the late 20th century. In Scotland Muslims represent 0.9% of the population (42,557), with 30,000 in Glasgow. Muslims are the third largest non-Christian group after atheists and agnostics.
Many Scottish Muslims are of South Asian descent primarily hailing from Pakistan.
The first Muslim student in Scotland was Wazir Beg from Bombay (now "Mumbai"). He is recorded as being a medical student who studied at the University of Edinburgh between 1858-59.
The production of goods and Glasgow's busy port meant that many lascars were employed there. Dundee was at the peak of importing jute; hence, sailors from Bengal were a feature at the port. Records from the Glasgow Sailors' Home show that, in 1903, nearly a third (5,500) of all boarders were Muslim lascars.
