Graphosoma italicum is a species of shield bug in the family Pentatomidae. It is also known as the Striped bug (or Italian striped bug) and Minstrel bug. The orange and black warning colours (aposematism) indicate that the insects are foul-tasting, protecting them from predators. The shield bugs are frequently found on the umbels of Apiaceae (Daucus, Heracleum, Anthriscus, Foeniculum, etc.), as in this photo, plants which themselves are chemically-protected. (Wikipedia)

On Monday 6th December I got in a visit to London before the train troubles multiply with the train drivers adding their strikes and overtime ban to the Action by the guards. It didn’t quite go to plan though with a broken rail on one line causing massive disruption all day. Still I got there only? 30 minutes late and 50 minutes late on the return.

This shot is of the new location for the Design Museum. London-based architectural designer John Pawson totally remodelled the interior of the former Commonwealth Institute building in South Kensington with a suitably impressive design. The building is 3 times the size of the former home of the Design Museum near Tower Bridge and opened to the Public on 24th November. It was only with a fisheye lens that I was able to get in the entire roof

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Samyang 8mm Fisheye Len. 3 raw images 2EV spacing processed with Photomatix Fusion Real Estate. More detail was brought in using Topaz Clarity and noise reduced using Nik Define.

Toy Sunday: Myths

“Childhood is not only the childhood we really had but also the impressions we formed of it in our adolescence and maturity. That is why childhood seems so long. Probably every period of life is multiplied by our reflections upon the next.”

holy crap, did I make all those?

this was originally inspired by the telidiscope theme multiply, but in the shooting process the idea morphed a bit and now it has exactly nothing to do with the theme.
