A corporate shoot for Eleganza: The fashion blog

Fixed Location: Stairwell

As if one TK-027 wasn't enough...lol

I finally learned how to make clones with photoshop! w00t!

Meet my brother inlaws,Made from the left overs of my cloning

Today's photo challenge issued by our friend at work was "Reflections".

I thought I had that in the bad since I was going to meet up with some friends in downtown Detroit and with rain on the way, I would get reflections galore...

Well, due to some circumstances, I had to bail out at the last minute (I know I'm going to regret it) and then I started to get a bit worried 'coz I still had to take a shot and it was already 10 at night... so, thought of doing some macro reflections since it was a bit different and involved some creativity..

Soon realized that not having a macro lens or a lens with a shorter focusing distance is a real disadvantage when trying to make images like this.. my long lens has a minimum focusing distance of more than a meter, so getting the focus on the subject in these water beads turned out to be a huge challenge.. and even more with my so called "tripod"..! Yeah, friends really make fun of my tripod...

Anyhow, after many tries, I got a shot that turned out to be better than the rest.. still not completely satisfied with the clarity and sharpness, but I'm really tired..

So, do I pass the challenge of catching "Reflections"?

Thanks all...

UPDATE - SEPT. 17, 2018:

Here's a youtube link to a short video I've made for a tutorial on Multiplicity, please watch :)

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

A friend, Hsing-Ning, asked me to teach her how to do multiplicity , so here it is.

I'm still a beginner, and therefore don't claim to know it all..

I will be more than happy to hear comments & suggestions on how to do it better :)

****************************************************************************

First you have to figure out a certain place as your setting and visualize your poses, making sure all of you (you & your clones that is ) are included in the frame.

Mount your camera on a tripod, or if you don't have one , use anything that would be steady enough for your camera. Now you're ready, shoot!

That sounds easy ?

Ok...now it's time for the real work! :)

(I used PhotoPlus btw )

***Update: Don't bother with clicking the eye on & off, doesn't make any difference :)

In this photo, I was trying to show how I can use the layer masking on Photoshop by adding so many Simrits into one photo. I also tried to show a story. My story is more of a routine. So many people visit guidance for their own reasons. Some people go to just creep when they have nothing to do (refer to creepy Simrit in the window on the right door), some people stop by to say hi to Ms.Graeme or Mr. Butt or Mr.Potroff or anyone else in guidance (refer to Simrit in left door window and Simrit in bottom left window). Other people come to work and sort out their problems (refer to Simrit on stool, stressing and working), some people come to goof around (refer to falling Simrit & Simrit under the table), some people get in trouble (Simrit sitting on couch acting like "What did I do?!" & Simrit standing and being the teacher and talking/arguing with Simrit in chair) and others come to act serious and work (Simrit in spinny chair). The point of my story is, that guidance is a home where everyone can go and everyone in guidance is very welcoming. Guidance is a place to get your work done or to get your mind off of things, to have conversations with Ms.Graeme on a Friday afternoon or to bug Mr.Butt & Mr.Potroff about how you stress about math and how you hate it or how you don't know what classes to take next year (I'm so sorry ahaa). Guidance is a great place to go. I chose this location because I've been in guidance a lot and they've helped me with a lot of things. I go there to solve my problems and to talk with everyone there. I bring my friends and Simrit comes with me too, so Simrit is a good person to have in this photo. My favourite part for working on this photo would probably be the photoshop part where I used the layer mask and used a balck paint brush to paint Simrit out and then invert it and repeat. I liked it because it was very straight forward and I understood what was happening. I honestly love how it turned out because in the beginning I thought it was going to be a really crappy photo, but I liked this photoshop assignment and found it interesting (it's my favourite photoshop assignment). I love how I didn't overlap any of the Simrits and I love the story it tells. I want to do another one of these assignments. If I was to redo this assignment I'd try to get more Simrits interacting with each other because I only have 2 Simrits interacting with each other. Overall, I'm very pleased with the outcome :)

Multiplicity Photography is the process of taking several photos of a human, animal, or object in different areas of the frame.

I captured 8 photos of my model in the straw bales, without moving my camera from the tripod.

Then I combined those 8 shots using the free software The Gimp.
