Yes this is what we (Geeks) do on a Sunday night. In the mean time Joe and I compare photos and plan dives.

The Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish

Tagged: Post a pic of yourself and list 10 random things about yourself.

Let the person who tagged you know that you did your list, then tag 10 people to your photo to keep it going.

My facts, in no special order:

1. Computers. I can't quite imagine my life without them anymore.

2. I love food. My cooking skills are puny, but I have a desire to learn - to me it looks like running a mad scientist's laboratory with a yummy result at the end.

3. I hate TVs in public spaces - I need to force myself not to be distracted by them.

4. I have to confess to myself that I'm most probably a net junkie.

5. Photography is for me a passion, a blessing and a reason why I have more individual pieces of glass in my bag than in all of the house windows.

6. I find badminton is cool. Don't call it gay until you've tried to play.

7. Few years back, I was literally eating books. Now I don't read as much and I'm not proud about it.

8. I truly enjoy opera. Favorite composers: Rossini and Mozart.

9. If I need to pick just one book, it's the Hitchhiker's Guide. No-brainer.

10. I like my job because it gives me the opportunity to constantly conjure up some new stuff.

@PD: pokrila si mi pola onih koje sam ja mislio tagat, tak da sam tagnuo samo jednog:D

I am not great at math, but I am good at multiplying tulips. These species tulips multiply every year in my dry garden.

Spring has finally arrived and I have been enjoying my garden again.

Tabgha is the name of a site on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus appeared after his resurrection (John 21), and where he multiplied loaves and fishes to feed the crowds gathered to hear him teach.

The name, Tabgha, has its roots in the Greek term for “seven springs" (see it on a map here). The place used to be the site of a Palestinian village and was important from ancient times because of its fresh water; trees that grew near the springs gave shade. It is not hard to imagine why Jesus might have gathered followers here to teach them for a day.

The present church preserves within some of its walls remains of a church that stood here in the late 300s. When that earlier church was excavated in 1936, archeologists discovered a mosaic around a block of naked limestone. The mosaic depicted two fish and a basket of loaves. Ancient accounts identify the block of limestone as the place where Jesus broke and blessed the bread that was multiplied and shared with the crowds. The new, modern church preserves this rock below its altar (pictured above).

It is difficult to tell if this was actually the exact place where Jesus multiplied the loaves, but it is clear that at least since 425, Christians have thought so.

The modern church replicates the style of the Byzantine church that would have been built after St. Helen’s visit to the Holy Land, even using some of the same stones from the original church. The only imagery in the church is found in two icons stationed near the sanctuary—one of Mary and one of Jesus.

The story of the multiplication of the loaves is the only miracle (aside from Jesus’ resurrection) that is recorded in all four Gospels. The story has captured the imagination of the Christian community because it reveals a deep truth about our lives of faith: God feeds us abundantly

Through the Africa RISING going to scale in Zambia project, IITA and ICRISAT supply private sector seed companies like Good Nature Seed Ltd. with high quality (pigeonpea, soybean, groundnut and cowpea) breeder seed for multiplication. Good Nature Seed was previously faced with the challenge of not being able to get good quality legume seed germplasm to multiply for subsequent sale to farmers. They currently work with 2,200 farmers on their out grower scheme. From their 40 hectare farm, are multiplying: soybean foundation seed on 22 hectares, pigeonpea foundation seed on 6 hectares, groundnut foundation seed on 6 hectares and cowpea foundation seed on 4 hectares. The goal of Good Nature Seed Ltd. is to produce quality and consistent supply of legume seed for the Zambian market.
