This year, to go with #bootlegsquadtember (check my first post for more info on that), I've decided to make every single official Suicide Squad member that inspired the roster of the Bootleg Squad. Enjoy!

Left to right:

Peacemaker (The Pacifist)

Multiplex (The Copycat)

Briscoe (The Getaway Driver)

Rick Flag (The Soldier)

King Shark (The Sea Creature)

Check out the Bootleg versions!

Man, I've never posted anything Suicide Squad related before. This is new for me.

Anyways, I've been trying to figure out a decent way to make the more Tron-Style Multiplex that appeared in the 2000's for a while now, and I think this is fairly serviceable a solution.

Each one is just the CMF Laser Mech with the armor, helmet, and wings removed. Simple as that.

Also featuring some members that also appeared during the 2000's that you've seen before.

Let me know what you think!

I stopped over at the Americana. I went inside Barnes & Noble, the first time in months, although I didn't buy anything. They moved things around a lot these past seven months.

After that, I walked over to the multiplex, which is still closed up. The same marquees are up there from March. I guess the studios weren't interested in getting them back, allowing the theater to keep them and for the employees to fight over, should they wish to take them home, once they are removed.

The Owners of the Pacific Theater chain announced last week that they are closing their theaters, which would include the Arc Light Theaters and the Cinerama Dome. But Pacific owns this multiplex at the Americana. So now it's a question of the owners selling it off to a buyer who would be willing to invest enough money to reopen the theaters once things ease up more here in Los Angeles County.

At least they didn't board up the doors, which was done at the Arc Light and the Dome. But those theaters are exposed to the general public. To see this entrance one has to go on the Americana grounds, and I'm sure there is 24/7 security there.

No idea when these marquees will be taken down, as it's obvious they haven't played there in over a year and it doesn't look like they will make a return.

Constructed in 1976, 388 George Street was designed by Australian architect John Andrews and formerly known as King George Tower.

Refurbished in 1998 and 2009, the 28-storey office building now has a new tower lobby and state-of-the-art end-of-trip facilities.

The refurbishment delivers 38,364 sqm of A-Grade commercial office space and 2,680 sqm of prime retail space to Sydney’s CBD.

The transformation includes new interconnecting stairs to enhance connectivity and collaboration. Upgrade works also included new ceilings, carpets, bathrooms, lift floor lobbies and on-floor amenities.

Design features include a stone concierge desk carved from solid blocks of London white marble, each weighing 200 kilograms.

The second and final stage of the project will see the delivery of a brand new FJMT-designed mixed-use pavilion to complete the project.

The mixed-use pavilion, due for delivery later this year, will add five-storeys of commercial and retail space, a rooftop bar and flagship retail stores.

“Not only have we added significant value by upgrading the existing commercial tower and developing the new retail podium on a dormant part of the site, we have also enhanced the site’s connectivity to George and King streets,” says Danny Poljak, executive vice president and co-head of Brookfield Properties.

“The development will completely transform this busy city corner and integrate with the newly pedestrianised George Street with a through-site link planned in the next stage linking to King Street.”

The project, which is being delivered by construction partner Multiplex, created over 250 jobs during construction.

Almost ten months since these movies first showed at this multiplex, the marquees are still up. It used to be long ago, before the days of the multiplex caught on, that stand alone theaters in the large cities would run a movie for ten months to a year, sometimes more. It was not unusual to see movies like "2001," "The Godfather," "Star Wars," "The Exorcist" play in the same place for a year or so.

Nowadays, movies end up playing for such a short time that if you don't go in the first week you will probably end up missing it. The studios are eager to get their titles out on home video as quickly as possible. And with the pandemic and shutdown, no movies are being shown, and movies aren't even available on DVD or Blu-Ray, only streaming. Something many of us can ill afford, what with being out of work cuts into our personal expenses.

Which is one reason why I keep coming back to this multiplex (that and the fact that it is within walking distance) is to check on it and see if it will ever reopen, or if it will become a relic for future generations to look at and study.

And, I like the fact that I got this shot at the right time of day. The color temperature differences are quite obvious between the waning daylight and the overhead lights to the marquee.

W Sydney is on track for a 2023 opening after Australian property developer Greaton appointed Multiplex to complete The Ribbon development in Darling Harbour.

Construction of The Ribbon, which includes the 585-room luxury W Sydney hotel, IMAX theatre and retail, came to a grinding halt earlier this year when the previous builder, Probuild, went into administration.

Marriott International Area Vice President for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Sean Hunt, told HM that the company is very pleased with the decision.

“Marriott International is very pleased with the appointment of premier construction company Multiplex to lead the finalisation of The Ribbon Development and W Sydney,” Hunt said.

“The appointment will see the W Sydney on track to open in 2023.”

Multiplex will soon commence the remaining works on the site, which mostly centres around internal fit-out, and public domain works at the Darling Harbour precinct.

“The Ribbon is one of the most complex new major developments currently underway in Sydney and occupies public land right on the harbour foreshore,” said Greaton Project Director, Michael Calvi.

“Appointing a new builder has involved extensive consultation with various stakeholders.”

Calvi said Multiplex was “the clear frontrunner” for the project.

“Multiplex built the original IMAX theatre some 25 years ago, and so it’s with great pride that we are supporting Greaton to bring this re-imagined project to fruition,” said Multiplex Regional Managing Director, David Ghannoum.

“We look forward to getting started and delivering for Sydney-siders.”

Shooting around Mobile Bay.

Prossima apertura delmuseo multisala di come eravamo.

Next opening of the multiplex museum of how we were.

I took a walk with a couple of friends Saturday night, and went on the advice of one of them to the Americana. He said there was a sign up that pointed out AMC had now bought the old Pacific Theater multiplex. It was more than a sign, it was the entire marquee! It's so nice to see this without the same ads that were up there since March of last year.

So now it will be an AMC theater. As to when they will officially open, nobody knows yet. However, with the number of Covid cases increasing here in L.A. County (including those involving the delta variant), it's hard to say how many people will return to the theaters to see a movie. I think I will wait and see what the prognosis is for the cases here.

Just read the news today (April 12) that the owners of the Pacific Theaters may not reopen any of their theaters, due to having been shut down for a year because of the pandemic. This would not only include the multiplex seen here at the Americana, but also the Arc Light in Hollywood and the Cinerama Dome. The latter would be a real shame, as I have lost count of the number of films I've seen there.

Anyway, this was shot on March 17, and it is a frame capture from HD video using my Moto g fast smartphone camera.

If you are interested in seeing the video I shot at the fountain at the Americana, here is the link (this shot is not part of it either):

With a few hours to kill at Bercy Coach station on my way back from Brussels I went for a wander. A bit further on from the Cinemateque Francaise I stumbled across the rather pleasant Bercy Village shopping area which is housed in refurbished historic warehouses.

Click here to see more photos from various trips to Paris : www.flickr.com/photos/darrellg/albums/72157623941270463

From the Bercyvillage.com website, "Bercy Village is a paved courtyard bordered with white stone storehouses and quiet terraces. An architecture that combines stone with steel, wood and glass. The Cour Saint-Emilion and its 42 storehouses, which are registered on the French supplementary Historic Monuments list, are all that remain of the Bercy storage areas where, for over a century, the largest wine market in the world was held.

Bercy Village is also a diverse area with shops, restaurants, leisure activities and entertainment spread over 26,000m² including Five Guys, Fnac, Va Piano, Sephora, Fragonard, Nature & Découvertes, Maje, Sandro and the UGC Ciné Cité cinema multiplex."

Seeking light in South Alabama.

I was out for a walk with a friend last night. It was the first time in ages since I walked around at nighttime. I still wore my mask, even though many people around me didn't. We checked out the Americana, mostly to see what changes have been done to the multiplex theater, if any. It turns out some of the stuff in there is being boxed up. Probably computers, cash registers and the like. There is talk that AMC might buy out the Pacific Theater chain, in order to keep the theaters from being torn down or remaining closed.

I used my ultra-wide lens to get this, though I wasn't able to cover the window with my hand as effectively as before. That's why you see a reflection of an ad that is really outdoors to the left.

But this is how it is for now. And, yes, the same marquee with the same titles are still up outside.

#bootlegsquadtember is continuing, baby! Though obviously, if you're only here on Flickr, I'm way behind. I've been posting daily on Instagram, but it took a bit longer than expected to get the group photos together for here, so I'll be playing catchup until the end of the month.

If you're unfamiliar with Bootleg Squadtember, we're making knockoff/bootleg Suicide Squad members based on different character archetypes from the history of the Squad. The characters for each day are laid out in a post from Allo/doc.zink, and the list is also different from last years, so make sure you find the right one!

Left to right:

Yang, The Pacifist: Based on Peacemaker - Yang is a peaceful bringer of the light, but the same can't be said of his sword, Yin.

DupliDan, The Copycat: Based on Multiplex - Have you seen Primer? Imagine that, but the guy figures out how to make copies of himself on purpose. It probably goes about as well.

Molly, The Getaway Driver: Based on Briscoe - Sure, being a limo driver for politicians and celebrities is usually safer, but to Molly it's much more fun to work with the US government shuttling criminal heroes.

Charles Eagle, The Soldier: Based on Rick Flag - He is immensely pissed off about having to lead this group of lowlife criminals, but he'll do it, since he was born to serve his country. You can see - it's in the name.

Blackfish, The Sea Creature: Based on King Shark - Just like the documentary: dark and mysterious vibes, and definitely related to fish crimes.

Check out the non-Bootleg versions!

The 18 screen multiplex has undergone some renovation. I haven't actually been in there since it happened, but I noticed when going into the lobby to see what was showing the were indications that they have at least one screen that is Dolby Cinema, and the other refurbished for IMAX viewing. It's not real IMAX; that would require a screen seven stories tall. But I suppose movies made for the larger (read: higher) can now be seen there.

Hopefully, I will manage to find the time to catch a movie there soon.

In Wroclaw. Multiplex Cinemas building.

Walking further up, I saw this 12 screen multiplex. A friend of mine, also from Lansing, was here a year ago, and he gave me the "grand tour" with his smartphone, doing it live. He was going to see "Cry Macho." But he was surprised at how deserted the Lansing Mall is now, and was a year ago.

The multiplex wasn't yet open, but it was in the early afternoon already. Workers there were just showing up while I was taking photos there.

These guys showed up in my Squad to End All Squads pic but I never posted them individually, so here they are.

Multiplex: Will Turner head, Tie Pilot torso.

Mindboggler: March Harriet head, Indiana Jones torso, CMF Rock n' Roll Frankenstein legs.

Karin Grace: Generic lady head, CMF Constable torso, Painted Vacation Batman arms.

Briscoe: Can't remember if I posted him before, but I've had him built for a while. Painted head, Dino torso, CMF Cowgirl hips, Freemaker Adventures legs.

Shrike: Painted hair, idk what head, sharpied CMF Mime torso, CMF Swimmer legs.

Let me know what you think!
