I was fascinated by the twisting, turning multitude of branches coming from this amazing oak tree. Found in Little Wittenham Wood, South Oxfordshire

The rose has an abundance of fully double blooms open to large cups in a very attractive apricot colour. With upright growth this ADR winner has the hightest disease resistance in its colour range. Multiple international gold and silver medals makes this a must have.

A rose is a woody perennial flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family Rosaceae. There are over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers vary in size and shape and are usually large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and often are fragrant. Roses have acquired cultural significance in many societies. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach seven meters in height. Different species hybridize easily, and this has been used in the development of the wide range of garden roses. 53319

Morning light on the vertebra that make up the backbone of the foothills above Boulder. I had headed out with the hopes of clouds above the Flatirons at sunrise, as a potent winter storm was heading our way with high winds out of the northwest. The clouds were present, but not in the right place for good compositions (note however the lenticular in the distance). They mostly blocked the early morning light, which has made its reappearance about 5 minutes before this shot was taken (subtle shadows are still visible in the sky). Today there is around 8 inches (20 cm) of snow on the ground, with near zero visibility in low clouds.

You could always count on the Santa Fe for an incredible consist. In this particular case 5 F45s lead the charge up Cajon Pass it was quite the sight. It was one of my favorite encounters with the Santa Fe F/FP45s.

There are multiple definitions for when a boat becomes a ship, including size, purpose, and other characteristics:

Size: Some say a ship is a vessel that's at least 197 feet (60 meters) long. Others say a ship is a large, ocean-faring vessel.

Purpose: A ship is a versatile vessel that can be used for commercial, military, or scientific purposes. A boat is often used for leisure activities.

Masts: A sailing ship may be defined as having at least three masts.

Deck: A ship may have a through-fitted deck, while a boat may have an open cockpit.

Weight: A ship may weigh at least 500 tonnes.

Crew: A ship may have a commander and a crew, while a boat may just have whomever is on it at the time.

Personal use: A vessel may be considered a yacht if it was constructed solely for personal use and has a combined occupancy of less than 100, including crew.

Submarines are technically ships, but they are traditionally referred to as boats. The original submarines were small and manned only when in use, so “boat” was appropriate.

Helen Calder - Arrangement for 15 Colours (15/44)

Christchurch-based artist Helen Calder pulls paint out into open space to explore its sculptural properties. She wrote in 2013:; When paint is freed from a flat support; its thickness and rubbery plasticity is evident. The ‘freed’ paint objects have fronts; edges and backs and of course colour all the way through. The physical ‘undoing of painting’ makes it possible to have parts that are interchangeable rather than fixed; open-ended paintings that can continue to evolve through different locations and time.;
