One of many ongoing approaches, where I move through the world as a harvester of images stumbling, strolling, lurching, equal parts accidental, and intentional. My concerns circumnavigate around questions that resist easy answers: time as texture, presence as performance, possibility as glitch. I trace the contours of decay and growth, hope and entropy, searching for the quiet collisions where meaning might emerge. Each image is less a document than a provocation an invitation to reconsider what we 'see', and what we ignore.

A little Cordoban Complexity from the back streets of Córdoba and the old town, it looked as if the lads were taking on removal duties. Enjoyed the layers and complexity with the variety of expressions and actions across the uncropped frame.
This shot of the red spotted purple was taken in 2013 and had over 52,000 views. It is my second most viewed photo. While this is not my favorite butterfly to photograph it is one that is a favorite of the viewers. I will post my favorite butterfly photo in the comment section. One of the reasons this had so many views is that in made Explore however it continues to be viewed frequently.
Like many other butterflies, this one exhibits iridescence due to its reflective multilayered transparent scales. Like soap bubbles, light reflected off these layers can interfere with other reflected rays from other layers and cause interference. This can produce glowing iridescent colors. The phenomenon is called thin film interference or TFI for short. When there is no strong light the wings appear to be a dark blue.
Another interesting fact about this butterfly is that it mimics the coloration and iridescence of the Pipevine Swallowtail. The Pipevine, like the Monarch, accumulates a toxin from the vine it eats as a caterpillar. Predators avoid these butterflies and any that resemble them because they instinctively know they are toxic. Thus the Red Spotted Purple mimics the Pipevine and avoids predation without having to accumulate the toxin. This is called defensive mimicry. I have included shots of the Pipevine in the comment section. Please feel free to let me know what you think!
Beautiful evening at the Carlsbad beach at dusk with a tiny inconspicuous moon on the top.
Was sitting at the end of the beach while watching the serene sunset and after the sun went down sharp silhouettes with an amazing backdrop of the multilayered hues of the sunset were tempting enough to pull the camera out from the backpack.
Lady on the beach with her arms flowing around was a bit of a distraction first but later I got on with it! Grabbed some shots where she seems to be dancing than doing yoga, but I guess there may be some overlap in those two activities. I have zero experiences with either one of them!
From wikipedia:
"Robert McKimson based the character on the real-life Tasmanian Devil. The most noticeable resemblance between the Australian marsupial and McKimson's creation is their ravenous appetites and crazed behavior. Although the Tasmanian Devil's appearance does not exactly resemble the real marsupial, it instead contains multilayered references to other "devils"; he has horn-shaped fur on his head (similar to the Devil's appearance) and whirls about like a dust devil (similar in appearance to a tornado) which sounds like several motors whirring in unison. Taz is constantly hungry and devours everything, animate or inanimate. His efforts to find more food are always a central plot device of his cartoons.
In fact, this appetite serves as the impetus for McKimson's Devil May Hare (first released on June 19, 1954). In the short, the Devil stalks Bugs Bunny, but due to his dim wits and inability to frame complete sentences, he serves as little more than a nuisance. Bugs eventually gets rid of him in the most logical way possible: matching him up with an equally insatiable female Devil. The character's speech, peppered with growls, screeches, and raspberries, is provided by Mel Blanc. Only occasionally would Taz actually speak, usually to utter some incongruous punchline, (eg. "What for you bury me in the cold, cold ground?") and yet is capable of writing and reading.
After the short entered theaters, producer Eddie Selzer, head of the Warner Bros. animation studio, ordered McKimson to shelve the character since it was "too obnoxious". After a time with no new Devil shorts, however, Jack Warner asked what had happened. He then saved Taz's career when he told Selzer that he had received "boxes and boxes" of letters from people who liked the character."
Multilayered meanings are expressed through materials: the unravelled blanket alludes to the severing of colonial ties as well as Potlatch protocols; the ripping of an HBC blanket symbolically reaffirms kindship ties between clans. Copper mined from Northern Tutchone lands hold economic and symbolic value in Indigenous and settler narratives; Queen Elizabeth ll’s face stamped onto a sacred material – the copper pennies – calls into question the colonial exploitation of Indigenous territories.

Photograph by itself looked minimalistic but the silhouette of the girl on the coast guard station gave the desired dimension and direction to the scene.
Taken today I was utterly gobsmacked by the phenomenon!

As we returned from our day trip to the serene Lake Pangong in Ladakh ( J&K,India) where we admired its multilayered blue hues, and neared the Changla Pass( 17,900 ft approx- the third highest motorable road in the world), we got caught in a hailstorm. This as we crossed the Pass and the cloud cover lifted.

Danish pastry
Sometimes shortened to 'danish'; Danish: ’wienerbrød’ - Viennese bread’ is a multilayered, laminated sweet Viennoiserie. Like other Viennoiserie, such as croissants, it is neither a bread nor a pastry, as it uses yeast-leavened dough, that is laminated like puff pastry to create a layered texture.

HH-60 Pave Hawk from the 920th Rescue Wing flies low over the water at Cocoa Beach Airshow 2025, its refueling probe and mission gear visible against a mist-shrouded backdrop. Boats drift below while a smaller aircraft cruises high above, adding depth to this multi-layered scene. The haze and altitude contrast evoke the complexity and precision of coordinated air and sea operations.

Through my eyes, my contact lens, the camera I hold in my hands, through the windshield, and all the raindrops I could see the rainbow... (maybe its because of all those things) How important that we do not lose sight... Your perception IS your reality. I was once told "its MY reality, everyone else is just passing through" ;)
