In its early form, the candy cane began as a simple white stick of sugar for children to eat - there was no "cane" shape or stripes to speak of.
While it is uncertain where the first canes originated, it is clear that by the mid-17th century, if not earlier, its use had already become widespread across Europe.
The distinctive "hook" shape associated with candy canes is traditionally credited to a choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral in Germany, who, legend has it, in 1670 bent straight candy sticks into canes to represent a shepherd's crook, and gave them to children at church services.
It is also possible that, as people decorated their Yule trees with food, the bent candy cane was invented as a functional solution.
Wishing you a lovely day and thank you for all the nice comments, M, (*_*)

I had this idea to suggest depth by taking two pictures of a flat object, a normal sharp one and an out-of-focus one, and then combine both images with a radial mask. Then, I added the flowers to exagerate the depth suggestion.
I am not sure that this has led to a convincing picture. What do you think?

My little granddaughter, an only child, so used to play alone, in her own world a lot, I was observing her and taking photographs of these wonderful moments.
Most of the time she was unaware of me.
Her dad was also watching her, and moved in closer the moment he thought she could hurt herself.
After the fun, we went for a huge ice-cream.
Sweet days.
Thanks and have a happy day, Magda, (*_*)

This candid portrait captures a young rider in the moments before he embarks on his motorcycle journey. With a helmet securely fastened and gloves in place, his determined expression shines through the helmet's visor gap.

Children and animals, people buy them expensive plastic toys, no no, give them a cardboard box and they play with it for hours! LOL
It must stimulate the imagination, a box can be anything you want.
They learn whilst they play, it stimulates body and brain, testing all the time.
Ah what I all discovered on my travels, happy days!
thanks for your time and comments, M, (*_*)

Reports of unusual goings on along one of the old coal waggonways in North Tyneside have been linked to sightings of an individual said to have been carrying a camera, a tripod and a piece of pipe adorned with LEDs, allegedly also carrying the drum of a washing machine strapped to his back.

So, happy notes on the street.
I NEVER understood why the 'fashion' colours for winter are beige, brown, grey and black... just when we need colour most? LOL
Hope this makes you smile again, have a great day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)
