I'm working at Ness Lake Bible Camp for the summer. One of my jobs is photography! No where else you can get gems like these :)

We took the boys for a lovely little hike around Mud Lake, near Britannia Beach. We saw frogs, turtles, birds, bugs and -- oh no! -- changing leaves. It was a way to end the summer. (8 of 8)
I caught this mud hornet yesterday in the kitchen with a drinking glass. So before I let him go I took his photo (through the glass!). He wasn't happy!
To be honest, I haven't found many good places to take photos since moving to Ottawa. Ottawa area photographers always recommend a place called Mud Lake. I made it to Mud Lake right before sunset on a day in early July. The light was not great, and I was a bit rushed to take photos. Nonetheless, there was some interesting fodder there, and Mud Lake would certainly merit a return visit if I wasn't moving again in a couple of weeks!
This shot is not brilliant technically - the trees and foreground are underexposed, and I couldn't do as much with the sunbeams as I wanted to to brighten the rest of the scene. Should have had my tripod and bracketed. I still like the feel of the shot, with the sun illuminating the dark forest one last time before sinking below the horizon. This shot is much better when viewed large on a dark background.
